A check up service was rendered which I didn't agree to in Sept of 2008. They sent me a surprise bill ($67.96) shortly after that, which I responded with a letter stating the reason why I didn't owe the balance (also called & left a message regarding this). The bill with a final notice/collection threat continued. I have told them several times in the past (to previous hygienist) that I wasn't interested in anything that my insurance doesn't cover unless it's so important that I can't refuse it. The dentist sent me a responding letter, which said the reason for the check up, was because there were many people that died from this particular cancer (don't remember the name he stated).
At the time of my last visit, the dentist quickly did a check up then started to explain the importance of the check up, but I immediately told him that I wasn't interested, and have already told the new hygienist the same. I have been with this dentist for about 8 years and this was the second time he sent me a surprise bill (which I paid the first one for about $130 a few years ago). I have told him in the letter that I was in the process of finding a new dentist because of this reason.
He still keeps sending me threat collection threats and final billing notice.
