Moved into an apartment temporarily. Using the oven for the 1st time, I was in the kitchen and noticed sparks. Quickly it escalated into a very bright white flame and a fire. I turned off the oven, but it somehow remained on! I could see that the heating element was on fire and driping something to the base of the oven. We couldn't unplug it because it was so hot that my husband had to turn off the circuit breaker to get the oven to shut off. Two lessons here: NEVER buy a product from Sears seeing all these complaints and seeing that everyone is receiving the same reply from Sears that it is not their fault and that they are not recalling them and that the consumer must pay to fix it. Second, when renting a place, look up all appliances on the internet for possible recalls/ complaints . However, I would like to state that the complex is removing the oven and giving me a non-kenmore oven in its place.
