Kenmore Dishwasher Reviews

Cutlery basket
I need to replace the cutlery basket in my Kenmore dishwasher purchased at Sears Canada. Delivery will cost a total of $75.64 (Canadian). If it costs $10 to produce and $10 to ship, that's a lot.

A $55.64 profit margin for this qualifies as usury.

Horrible Customer Service
I bought a dishwasher about 2yrs. ago and it will not drain. Checked all of the common sense problems and came to the conclusion that the pump failed. I called numerous representatives at sears and came to the conclusion that in order for sears to stand behind there product you would have to give them approximately double the amount you spent originally, So in other words if you buy a dishwasher at 285.00 you have to buy an extended warranty at 200.00 when you could just get a brand new dishwasher for 85.00 more, that only last 2 years. What have we come to hear in America? I believe that if you build and sell a product you should stand behind your product, if you can't then get out of the business.

Terrible product and service
I remodeled my kitchen with all new Sears Kenmore appliances. My dishwasher has a 5 year warrenty and after less than 3 years has started to break down. I made 4 service calls in less than 3 weeks. Each time a different part was replaced but my wait time in between repairs was at least a week. I complained after the 4th visit when the tech told me that the parts were on back order and I called to request a replacement dishwasher. Sears repair department approved a dollar amount for replacement and ask me to go into the store and pick out a new one. I have received now 3 calls in a month rescheduling delivery for the new dishwasher being on back order. Its it nearly 3 months that I have had a broken dishwasher and no replacement but Sear has not offered to waive a payment or anything for my inconvience. I AM VERY UPSET AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING EVER AGAIN AND WILL MAKE SURE I SPREAD THE WORD!!!

SEARS DOES NOT CARE
On April 25, 2009 I called Sears Repair Center because the dishwasher at my mother's home was not working. My mother passed away on April 24, 2009 so I was extremely busy planning her funeral. My mother had been a customer of Sears for 60 years and has always purchased her major appliances there plus she always paid for extended warranties. The customer service rep made an appointment for April 27 between 8am and 12pm. Since I was planning my mothers burial, I made arrangements for a friend to take off work to be at the property between 8 and 12. At 12:01 pm "Gilbert" called to advise me that he was "overbooked" and would not be able to make it that day. I immediately called Sears 800 number and explained to them that I needed them to come out today. At 1:30pm Gilbert arrived, took one look at the dishwasher and said he needed to order "a soapdispenser". The problem was not the soap dispenser--the problem was it was not going through the cycles. He did not even bother to check it running the cycles! I was told that when the part came in, we could call for another appointment. The part arrived on April 30, 2009. Since I live in Washington state and my mother lives in California, my daughter-in-law made an appointment for Friday, May 8, between 8 am and 12 pm. She gave them her cell number so they could reach her directly since the phone at my mothers residence was now disconnected except for messages. At 11:50 am Gilbert left a message on my mom's telephone number that he would not be able to make it because he was "overbooked" My daughter-in-law called him, insisted that he needed to come as soon as possible. He said he could be there around 1:30 pm. At 3:45 pm Gilbert called my daughter-in-law and stated he was about 5 minutes away. She had already left the house and said she would reschedule. She called to reschedule again for Wednesday, May 13 between 8 am and 12pm. Guess what? At 12:30 pm Gilbert called (again) and stated that he would not be able to make it. Sears has now wasted 12 hours of our time. We have not heard from them in regards to this or any type of apology. I will never buy another Sears item and am making it my life goal to tell everyone I know.

dishwasher
I've been having problems with my Kenmore dishwasher from Sears. After just 2 months after purchase it broke down. Sears fixed it under warranty but after 6 months it was broken again. Both times a valve needed to be replaced. Cost to Sears for both repairs was $400.00 parts and labor. Not even 1 year later my dishwasher broke down again. My phone calls to Sears customer service met with zero help. I do not have a warranty anymore so cost is on me. Sears technician informed me that my heating coil broke down and my cost to replace it would be $280.00. So far all the costs total more then what we paid for this unit. When I complained that my dishwasher is not even 2 years old, one customer service employee told me "products are not made to last" . Now I know.

bought in Oct. 2008 not working
I purchased a Kenmore dishwasher in October 2008. Within a few days the water was not heating up. After TWO WEEKS the repair person put in a new control board. Now the machine won`t come on at all. I called repair again and was told by the man taking the work order that someone would be here January 13. I waited all day and no one came. When I called Tulsa to complain, as directed to do so by the local repair office, I was told my appointment was scheduled for January 20. Why does it take two weeks to get the dishwasher checked each time I need repairs? Why can`t they stay with the original appointments?

My elderly mother and father recently purchased a Basic Black Dishwasher from KMART under the Kenmore Brand. It was not cleaning their dishes even when they rinsed the dishes before placing them in the dishwasher. They called for repair and the repair person stated that everything worked OK but the dishwasher was cheap and wasn't going to wash dishes. I personally believe that a dishwasher should not be available for sale if it does not wash the dishes. Maybe when salmonella or other food poisining occurs in a family household the health department should look at the dishwasher. I am lucky my parent's did not get sick from a faulty product. By the way KMART offered to replace the machine by charging them the additional charge to upgrade it.
