ineffective and costly repair
In January of 2010 I paid Sears over $500 to repair a Kenmore Elite Electric range. It is already failed in the same manner as it did before. Before I authorized repairs, I asked the technician if it would be worth the money or should I replace it (originally purchased in 2001). He indicated it would be as good as new with the new mother board replaced. Well, good as new lasted 7 months. Of course the warranty was only 90 days so Sears wnats to charge me again for a service call to repair it again. The Sears people I spoke to were very unconcerned and did not think it was their problem.
I will replace the range through ANYBODY but Sears, and would suggest not servicing anything through Sears. This is not my first problem with them, but it will be the last.

Service
I purchased an electric range in April, 2009. It wasn't installed until June, 2009. I am experiencing problems with it. Please note that I purchased an extended policy with Sears (1-800-469-4663). A serviceman arrived, but didn't have the proper part. A new appointment was made for Wednesday, September 23 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. I reeceived a phone call on the 22nd as a reminder.
I waited until ll:30 and then went outside to cut my grass. When I returned inside I retrieved a message that said because I did not man my phone for four hours I would have to reschedul. In addition I asked to speak to the supervisor in charge. I was refused many times and when I was adamant I was put on hold for 50 minutes until I finally hung up.
The service that is rendeered has a lot to be desired. The technician should have shown up as scheduled. She would have found me home as I had promised. This is a totally unacceptable way to treat a customer. Whatever happened to the adage, "the customer is always right", especially a customer who has purchased over $6000 worth of merchandise the same day?
