Kenmore Elite Washing Machine Reviews

not working
Bought this machine in 2007 and loved it. Then in 2009 got a "recall" letter. When I contacted them they said my machine was not included in the recall even though the model # was listed (how convenient). Now, 2011 my machine is BROKEN. After reveiwing lots of complaints about the Kenmore Elite and the fact that Sears continutes to sell these HORRIBLE machines, I agree with everyone who would like to plan a class action lawsuit. If you are from Canada and have done this, please e-mail me at [email protected] and make sure you write Kenmore Elite problem in the RE: line. In Canada, I will be contacting Whirlpool which makes these machines as Sears refused to help me and if Whirlpoo will not help I will be writing to the Onatario Government's new "consumer protection" branch to file a formal complaint with them. Back in 2007 I paid over $1000 for this machine and certainly expected it to last longer than it has. It started leaking water the last 2 weeks and completely stopped this week. Looks like the circuit board is "fried" and Sears wants me to pay $100 for a visit and about $500 for a new circuit board. DON'T THINK SO. I will also be cancelling my Sears card and writing to their ombudsman's office which turns out to be employees in the presidents office. Everyone else should do the same. Companies should not be able to keep continuting to put out JUNK products in the market. I am very surprised at Sears for this and extremely disappointed in them as customers have been complaining since at least 2007 about this product and it's now 2011. Sears has been selling an "INFERIOR" product for almost 5 years now and IT NEEDS TO STOP. I hope to hear from anybody. The more we work together the more solutions we can come up with and maybe we can all get some of our money back. ON TOP OF THAT, I should have researched this product better before I bought it. The first machine delivered to me did not work and Sears wanted to fix it. I clearly recall telling them that I AM NOT repairing something on the 1st day that I've had it. I made them deliver me a new one. I will do my research this time and Whirpool doesn't help I will not purchase any of the machines they make at all. If you call Whirpool you will be surprised that they are the makers of almost all washing machines. Same lousy machines with just different names.

can't get anyone to fix it
Our machined was bought 2 years ago. I used it 12 days ago and the water would not drain. I called in the problem right away. I was told that someone would come that monday between 8-5. I called the number which got me to the helpline where I left 2 different phone #'s. I got no response of anykind that monday. I called again wednesday to see when someone would come, not until Monday 18th. They called and said they would be here 8-5, at 2:30pm I received a call saying they wouldn't be able to come until Arril 29th. Now what??? You Tell Me!!!

F1 Error
Oh yes the dreaded F1 flashing. Yes...my wife and I have reset the washing machine more times than I can count. I read up on some forums and decided to take a chance and purchase a new control board and replaced it. I replaced it and it immediately did the same F1 code crap again...God I felt like an idiot buying this main circuit board. Now that I have done more research and found literally hundreds of complaints; there are probably thousands out there! I will NEVER EVER Purchase any Kenmore or Whirlpool (Whirlpool owns Kenmore or vise versa) Ever Again...Anyone reading this would head my advice and never purchase that crap again. Ya I could spend hundreds on a tech and will probably, in the end, just purchased a new one after all... So I suppose I will deal with the F1 Crap as long as I can deal with my wife complaining about it and make another trip to a more reputable place to buy a more reputable washing machine...In all honestly my parents had a washing machine that lasted like 25 years...why cant the make them the way they used to??? Hell maybe its is better off buying an good old used one with better parts before they started sending all the good workmanship overseas! Whatever!!! I'm so pissed and frustrated. Sorry gotta vent somehow! For those with the same problem...I FEEL Ya!

Sears washing machine exploded!
Our $800 Kenmore Elite washing machine died after 13 months. Since it had a 12 month warranty the Sears people didn't take any responsibility - even though we had called them 3 months earlier to report the problem (the agitator came loose from the machine and would come out when the clothes were removed). They told us the repair would be $550, plus it cost $55 to have their service guy come out and say "yup, it's all screwed up". When the agitator came apart during a wash / spin, it spewed a dozen parts, and punched holes in the top of the drum. It made a loud enough noise that it scared my daughter! We called the Sears customer "service" people, got the run around, had to call many times, and the best they'd offer was 10% off the price of the repair - which basically meant that the service call was no charge.

I will never buy another thing from Sears as long as I live. Don't buy a Kenmore, unless you have money to waste.
