Kenmore Reviews

I will not buy from Sears again
It is Sear Kenmore 2004 model 41744042400. The first episode the door would not lock. In the second episode, the pump burned out due to debris (apparently there is no filter) which caused the circuit board to go out).

The cost of repairs so far is $700 and have exceeded the cost of the machine. But after sinking the initial $249 on the first repair, it was cheaper to get it repaired again @ $349.

This time I bought the extended warranty so I at least will not have to spend any more money.

I am unimpressed with the quality of a $649 appliance that will not last more than 2 years. I will not buy from Sears again.

Has a long delay for replacement parts for my new washing machine
I purchased a Kenmore washer from Sears. Already the motor has blown after 10 normal loads of laundry. Instead of fixing it upon arrival, I am told the switch on the inside was put in wrong.

The only thing I can do is wait two weeks to have it replaced. Two weeks!!! With 3 children that is a nightmare. In this world of overnight delivery why can't I get the parts quicker?

For my inconvenience I get $10 in coupons. So I can spend more money at Sears thanks Sears?

I won't be back!!!

After losing about $100 in food and waiting 10 days for a repair appointment on my Kenmore refrigerator, a repairman showed up
He was told the cooling would stop for a couple of days, then start up, and then stop again, etc.

He did some superficial cleaning, said he thought it was OK, but told my wife to call for a new appointment if it still had a problem.

That night it was back to room temperature. Next morning I called Sears, explained everything, and I was told it would be two weeks before another serviceman could show up.

I talked to three different people and was told a supervisor would call back, but no one never did... and my 2 year old refrigerator --- which I have a service contract on --- is sitting at room temperature.

I told Sears I would get my own repairman and bill Sears.

The response was, "That will void your contract." We have probably owned a dozen Kenmore products during our 35 year marriage. This is the last.

Advertised dimensions are not accurate
Buyers of Kenmore's model 47782 (last two numbers are for white) 27" electric single wall ovens: be aware the advertised dimensions are not accurate. If you need to know the real interior oven dimensions, measure yourself before you buy! Their claim of 4.2 cu. ft. capacity is pure fantasy. Based on interior measurements taken from the oven itself today, the real capacity is 3.6 cu. ft.

A store employee had measured for me (I called) and gave the depth as 18", but since the racks don't go all the way to the back and have a turned-up "stop, " the true rack depth is only 13 1/2". A cookie sheet barely fits on a rack when turned sideways.

This purchase could have been a disaster. I had no other brand option due to the cutout size made for a previous oven and which could not be altered.

customer service
Appalling! This would be the word I would use to describe the Sear’s sorely lacking Customer Service.
A little over a year ago our dishwasher (just over a year old, costing $2, 000.00) quit working. It took three service calls over 8 weeks to finally repair this machine, which turned out to be an obstruction in the drain hose. (Totally unacceptable considering the problem.)
Now, on Feb. 2nd, our stove/oven bought just over two years ago for over $1, 700.00, on a “Self-cleaning cycle” started overheating. It over heated so severely that the plastic burner control knobs on the front of the oven melted and hung down on long thread of plastic, frightening my wife quite badly.
I called Sears customer service about this sever problem. Two service reps arrived on Friday Feb. 4th in the afternoon. Their first question filled me with renewed confidence, and it was “So what is problem with your furnace?”
After setting them straight about the problem, they played around with the oven for a few minutes checking if it turned off a 400 and 500 degrees. (Which it did).
They then informed me there was nothing wrong with the oven. I again showed them the melted knobs and asked them to explain then to me. (no explanation)
Finally one of them decided that maybe the oven door needed a new gasket. And after coming to this unsatisfactory solution they left.
Now on Feb. 9th I come home and get this reassuring message from Sear’s parts department, that they do not have the parts to fix my oven and they do not know when they will get them.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

Unhappy with product and Customer Service
I really do not recommend buying Sears appliances. They preach that they are about customer service, but I have found that not to be totally accurate. We have a large family and bought the Kenmore Elite Oasis HT from our local Sears store. In two years we have owned it, we've had multiple problems with our machine. We've had a leaky hose, two water pumps replaced, and now waiting on a new drum and a couple of other parts that I don't even know what they are.

This last go around started Jan 3rd. We were told that the repair man would be here on the 27th. Until then we could take our close to the laundromat and they would reimburse us $25 a week. We easily spent more than that each week at our overpriced laundromat. Repairman arrived on the 27th and had to order multiple parts that were back ordered at the warehouse. It was unknown when they would be available. Sears then gave us an option to rent a washer till repairs could be made. As we picked out our rental, it came to our attention that Sears would only give us $100 max on the laundromat reimbursement. Plus, if we rented a washer now, they would not reimburse for the landromat for the previous weeks. We had to pay almost $90 for a minimum of a month rental. If our washer is fixed before the month is up we are on the hook for the remaining time on the month contract.

We have been around and around with Sears on the phone. Over $200 has been spent up front out of our pockets and not to forget our time wasted at a laundromat. We are tired of the inconvenience and spending money we can't afford. Sears just passes us off on the phone to different people hoping we just give up. I spent over an hour the last time I called. When they get tired of you bothering them they put you on hold till finally you hang up. We also have a Kenmore microwave in the shop and a Kenmore dishwasher that has been a nightmare with problems that is again waiting for a repairman. We are now looking into a new stove and it will not be a Sears product.

washer/dryer constantly breaking down
We purchased Kenmore Elite Oasis HE washer (Model# 11027087604) and dryer (Model # 11067087600) combo 12/1/07. These products are lemons. We have been very unhappy with them because the are always breaking down. We have had to have these units serviced at least 10 times since date of purchase.
Getting a service man to come to do repairs is very difficult as they are so busy it make take 5-7 days for service and when they do show up they don't have the parts on hand and have to order and reschedule and hope that they bring the right part. In the meantime I am inconvenienced by being forced to go the laundromat to do my laundry.
We purchase Maintenance Protection for the above appliances but that still does not account for the inconvenience of having to leave our home to do laundry. On several occassions when I did have to use the Maintenance Protection, Sear's did come out and repair the unit not working only to have to come out again several months later to address the same problem they had indicated has been repaired.
We bought the top of the line and it is discouraging that we did not get the quality that we were supposed to be buying.
I would never recommend Kenmore products to anyone, nor will I ever purchase another Kenmore product myself.

F1 Error
Oh yes the dreaded F1 flashing. Yes...my wife and I have reset the washing machine more times than I can count. I read up on some forums and decided to take a chance and purchase a new control board and replaced it. I replaced it and it immediately did the same F1 code crap again...God I felt like an idiot buying this main circuit board. Now that I have done more research and found literally hundreds of complaints; there are probably thousands out there! I will NEVER EVER Purchase any Kenmore or Whirlpool (Whirlpool owns Kenmore or vise versa) Ever Again...Anyone reading this would head my advice and never purchase that crap again. Ya I could spend hundreds on a tech and will probably, in the end, just purchased a new one after all... So I suppose I will deal with the F1 Crap as long as I can deal with my wife complaining about it and make another trip to a more reputable place to buy a more reputable washing machine...In all honestly my parents had a washing machine that lasted like 25 years...why cant the make them the way they used to??? Hell maybe its is better off buying an good old used one with better parts before they started sending all the good workmanship overseas! Whatever!!! I'm so pissed and frustrated. Sorry gotta vent somehow! For those with the same problem...I FEEL Ya!

Delivery of Goods
I am quite ticked off about Sears Canada. Believe me...everywhere is the same. With this particular instance, I ordered 4 filters for my Kenmore Fridge for the sum of just over $450 and they were sent to the wrong address. For me to rectify the problem, I had to place the order again and call a different number to refund me the original amount debited to my credit card (It is the worst set up as their departments are kept in silos - customer service can only accept complaints but do not have the authority or ability to make any refunds). So I ordered for the 2nd time, and they still shipped it to the wrong address. To top it all off, I still have been debited roughly $900 and have not received anything yet (8 weeks after). Now they tell me I have to order again (what a f'n vicious circle they put me in). I have left like 20 messages to the refund department but they have not made any attempt to call me back. It has been roughly 8 weeks without filtered water. If I get sick/typhoid due to unfiltered/contaminated water, I am getting their a$$ sued. I am on my way to claw back some money through my credit card. I encourage everyone to not buy at Sears if you have the choice as it has degraded its customer service throughout the years.
