Poor Service Managers
I had 20 servicemen at my home to fix my refeg in 2008 they could not fix it so they gave me a purchase order number to get another one I when to the warehouse in Livonia Mi piched out a refig but it would not fit in front door or side door.They returned it to the store I went back to get a smaller one but they did'nt have one that I wanted, Manager David said no problem we will get new shipment in soon so come back and the purchase order will still be good, that was not so I still have the Refigr I had before, Sear main office said it expired and they refuse to give me another one . Sear is not the same the manager David quit and the New manager could care less. My blood pressure was up to hi so I said I will never buy anything else from Sears.

delivery/availability
On July 21, 2010, I placed an online order on Sears.com for a Kenmore stove and refrigerator, and scheduled them both to be delivered on July 31. We were moving in Aug into a new house from an apt and we owned no major appliances, so delivery on that date was the greatest deciding factor when I made my purchase.

On July 30, I received a computerized phone call, which then connected me to someone in India, who informed me that the stove would be on time but the fridge would not be delivered until Aug 3. I wasn't happy but I accepted it. Then, on Aug 1, I received another computerized phone call informing me that my fridge wouldn't be there until the 10th. I was furious at that point, and canceled the order facing the prospect of 2 weeks with no fridge. The rep made no attempt whatsoever to keep me as a customer by offering me a different fridge which could have been on time, a discount, free delivery, nada. They just put me on hold for 10 minutes while they canceled it.

I called the Sears.com corporate phone# to file a complaint, and I ended up spending 30 minutes on the phone, most of it on hold. A representative tried to "help" me by offering me a different fridge which cost over $100 more, but which also couldn't have been delivered for at least 10 days.

I ended up ordering a Frigidaire from Lowes, and it was in my kitchen in less than 24 hours. When they called me to schedule my FREE delivery, it was an American human being, not a computer.

Shoddy installation
I called Sears when I discovered that my heating/air conditioning unit was leaking cold air, a lot of cold air into my attic.
This unit was installed in April of 2008. The job number is 7817447. The installer's name is Gibson from Albuquerque. I have had nothing but problems with this unit since installation resulting in high electric/propane bills, damaged ceilings and pain and agravation. I have been talking to Jeff Burch at 806-470-3135 ext 49107 in Lubbock Texas. By the wayI think that he is really trying to help.
Below is my latest to him.

"Jeff,
I have talked to the Sear's help line about 15 times this week. I thought I was going to get something done about this tape coming loose and air conditioning my attic when I talked to Melinda at 1-800-749-7499 ext. 30126, however someone called back from India and told me that they couldn't help and that our a/c heating was only covered at this point for parts, which in this case is about $10.00 worth of tape.
Jeff, I don't think this is fair. The installation should have lasted longer than two years. I should not be heating and cooling my attic. I am 65 years old and my husband is 80 and suffers from COPD. So. we can't fix it, it is leaking all around the plenum? and I can't crawl back there, and I shouldn't have to in the first place.

At this point I think I will hire a local company and expect Sears to pay the bill. I do not know what else to do. And I will be forewarding this to my attorney."

I realy hope that you will try to help me get this behind me, I have been a Sears card carying fan for well over 30 years.

The entire episode has been very frustrating
We purchased a heat pump from Sears in 2008 - the air conditioning unit has never worked for more than a few weeks at a time - we have had 8 different technicians attempt to fix it, each one leaving with a different explanation, too much freon, not enough freon, celluloid switch, compressor, pressure regulator - receive emails from the [email protected] confirming the unit is fixed and problem resolved. Phone calls to salesman remain unanswered - the only time he called back was when we called to say we wanted to now buy a new furnace - he was at our house in no time - like we would ever purchase anything from them again ! He also promised he would see to it being repaired. The entire episode has been very frustrating. We have been requesting they take the unit back and replace with a new one - if they sold us a cheap unit we would gladly upgrade to something better - we are not even allowed to have an independant service technician work on it as it will void our guarantee so we are at the mercy of these geniuses they keep sending and are now facing another hot and humid Montréal summer with no air conditioning. This latest episode started mid May - it is not June 9th, and it is still not working, with no sign of it being repaired anytime soon!!

smoking refrigerator
We have a family of four to include two infants - one night the refrigerator began to smoke. It seemed to nearly catch fire so we cut the electricity. Online we have seen a number of people wait several weeks for Sears to make their assessment on Kenmore fridges, and I, in NO WAY, want this fire risk in my home. So, I am buying a new fridge - though the one we have is only seven years old. Purchased in the Fall of 2003, our Kenmore was this model: 596-73912200. Let me know if there is a law suit against Sears and/or on Kenmore refrigerators... I am listing this issue on http://www.consumeraffairs.com and also on http://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx

KENMORE FRONT LOAD HE2 QUIETPAK4
We have all Kenmore products in our home and have experienced excessive issues with each. Some to the point of replacement. The current issue we are having is with our front load Kenmore HE2 QuickPak 4 Washer and Dryer. The washer has had a number of repairs done to it that are all documented within Sears call center system. The most recent was today when I went downstairs and found an inch of water in my laundry room floor from the washer and the code on the screen was "5D". It was in the spin cycle for over an hour and would not turn off unless I hit cancel...it then drained and turned off. The drawer underneath the washer also had water in it. There was a small load in the washer so not sure what triggered this. I called the customer service center and spoke to Maynard ID# 1245. He was not very helpful in my opinion because he did the bare minimum to serve me..which seems to be the case with all customer service centers thse days...they do the bare minimum. He told me Monday June 7th would the the earliest a tech could come out. I had to be asked to be put on a call back list for cancelled apts. To me I would expect a quicker response being I told them I had a floor of water which is a safety hazzard in itself and could cause more serious damage to the floor, seeping under the basemold etc...this could create more of an issue. I guess to sum this all up, we have had more than a normal share of issues with all our Kenmore appliances...especially our front load washer that is only 3 years old. We had to purchase the extended warranty due to all the issues we were having. In my opinion this should have been offered to us free of charge since we were having so many issues. At this point we are really wanting a new washer. There is no acceptable reason for the amount of defaults with this washer.

Rust
Sears does not acknowledge poor paint applications. They will say its because you live near the ocean that the rust will show through. This said even as the appliance stands next to one that has been in the home for 15 years and looks new. "Do not buy Sear's appliances if you live near the ocean" should be in their advertising.

My electric oven exploded
1/11/2010 My electric oven exploded. The oven was turned on and a few seconds noise/fire. The damaged was so powerful in the oven that the screws losen and fell and electric coil broken in peaces. Fire burn around the rib cage of the oven.White chalk remains in the oven. I contacted SEars and no help. It could have taken a life or burned my home. I need some answers. I contacted Sears and spoke with so many departments. Sears stated for me to pay for repair services.

Don't buy from them
I have a 3 year old Kenmore vacuum I bought as it got good reviews. Well it has broken 4-5 times in the 3 years and has had the motor replaced and nearly everything else. But it keeps breaking. Sears will not replace it. Just a warning, if you get a good Kenmore product, no problem, but if you get the lemon, Sears will do nothing to help their customers. I will never buy another Kenmore product and I suggest you find a company with a better policy just in case.
