Refund
I had bought a Vacuum from Sears and it broke. After I took it back in for repairs they said they no longer make that vacuum and I can upgrade to a newer model. I asked about warranty and I was told it would transfer to my new model.(I purchased an extended waranty)My new vacuum stopped working and when I brought it in for repair they said my waranty was expired. So I paid $93.00 to fix it. A few months later I recieved an option to extend my waranty for my Vacuum. So I called sears and they just forgot to transfer my warranty over. Ok no harm done right? So I decided to ask for a refund. I have my reciept and all my paper work. I have called EVERYONE!!No one can help me its almost impossable to get a refund. I have been working on this for a coulpe of weeks, I just keep getting transfered and the run around. All I want is my money back

refrigerator
We purchased a kenmore refigerator 8 years ago when we moved into our new home. I realize that 8 years is getting up there in age for appliances, but we have had nothing but trouble with our fridge since we purchased it. We purchased it from Sears in Fredericton. Although sears has been pretty good about getting it serviced asap, I can't help but feel very dissapointed in your product. I have had to throw out food twice now, since most of the food had spoiled or thawed. Not to mention the days that I have had to stay home from work to get it serviced. I used to think kenmore was one of the best choices in appliances around, but I'm begining to think not. We have recently purchased a new dishwasher, and I'm sorry to say that it wasn't kenmore. We are soon going to have to purchase a new stove, and I don't think kenmore is at the top of our list. Another sad part is that my husband is in the construction business, which means they have to sometimes furnish townhouses with appliances. Sorry but kenmore is pretty low on their list as well.

range burner drip pans
The Kenmore range, model # 94212 has grey ceramic burner drip pans that stain and chip very easily. There are no replacements that would be stainless or any other material. Worse yet, the drip pans are custom to this particular Kenmore range so that they cannot be replaced by other pans except these very specific ones available through Sears at an incredible price, $19 for the 8 inch, and $26 for the 6 inch (yes the smaller one costs more than the large one for some reason!)

In any case to replace these four drip pans which stained and chipped within just a few short months would cost me $90!!!

Other aspects of the range are fine but the fact that these ceramic coated drip pans stain and chip so easily together with the fact that there is no way to get replacements except to buy them at an incredibly high price, makes me angry enough to avoid a Kenmore product next time I buy applicances.

Missing Appliances
I purchased and paid for a kenmore washer and dryer the day AFTER Thanksgiving during a black friday sale. I was told that the appliances would not be in until Christmas. In January no appliances yet. Started sending e-mails to Sears, and received NO assistance or appliances. Finally was told by the store that we purchased them that they would arrive on February 17. Called this morning and was told to call after 1:00 PM. I called again at 1:30 and was informed that they were in to come and pick them up. I went to the store and they were NOT IN. Was given the BS that they would call me in a Couple days and let me know where my appliances are!? They also gave me telephone numbers to file complaints and NO ONE can answer my questions or address my complaints. I went to their web site looking for someone to address this issue, and the telephone number they give is too OVERLOADED, it states to call back!?
Finally I spoke to a human and was told they will call me back!?

Dishwasher Caught Fire
Our 3 1/2 year old Kenmore dishwasher is apparently manufactured by Whirlpool, serial number FR3305103, Model 665.17483300, Type No. 577-0.

Last night, acrid-smelling smoke started coming from the front door, and now the dishwasher does not work.

This first link is for an official recall of dishwashers similar to this one, but with a plastic body (ours has a metal body and a stainless steel front):

Original; see modified release: Whirlpool Corporation Recall of Dishwashers

This link is for Whirlpool's official recall:
https://www.whirlpool.com/repair/index.jsp?id=R14165

Apparently, even though our dishwasher's serial and part numbers fall within the range given on both pages, it is not covered in the recall, perhaps because it has a metal body.

The defect with our dishwasher seems exactly like the one described in the recall. We are going to attempt to have Whirlpool repair or replace ours for free, since this is not a natural malfunction due to the age of the appliance or for any other reason.

We will report back after we see what Whirlpool says tomorrow (Monday)...

Just had a Whirlpool affiliated technician come over (this Kenmore is really just a Whirlpool with the Sears brand name). The service call was $118, non-refundable. Our dishwasher originally cost us $1, 048.10, including all taxes, and delivery. I know, that's expensive, but we thought we were getting the best, something that would last for a while, maybe ca. 10 years. We bought this on 9/11/04, it lasted four years, four months. Little did we know...

The technician's tally for replacing the parts comes out to ca. $400. After calling Sears, they said that they could either offer Service Parts up to $100 OR Service labor up to $150, One or the other, but not both. Obviously, this is not cost efficient.

I am attaching a picture of the burned out inside of the electronics panel on the front door of the dishwasher. Notice the charred insides.

What have we learned from this?

1. As the technician recommended, ALWAYS purchase the largest warranty, and then when it's about to expire, purchase an extension. Once your warranty expires, you have absolutely no recourse whatsoever, even if your place burns down.

2. Sears service is abysmal.

3. Whirlpool products are cheaply-made, and according to the Whirlpool affiliated technician, they are getting worse. (She admitted that she's so dismayed by the quality of modern dishwashers that she doesn't even own one, she washes by hand.)

4. It's a crapshoot purchasing what you think will be a top-of-the-line, excellent appliance. As they say, they just don't make them like they used to.

Finally, if there are others out there who purchased the same dishwasher and had the same problem, PLEASE post here. If enough people have this problem, there will inevitable be a recall of this batch of serial numbers in this model.

Gas Stove 9703368
Bought Gas range from sears Feb 2005 Cost $1299.99
Door of range has moved and thus heat escaping from top of doors and the light flickers on and off every time you walk by the range.
There is no adjusting on the hinges at all.

Looks like it cannot be repaired.

defective refrigerator
I had a Kenmore Elite Side-by-Side refrigerator Model #5770 delivered on Saturday, December 27, 2008. When I got up Sunday morning to go to a family Christmas gathering the refrigerator was warm inside. All the food was melted; what a mess. So I spent the morning cleaning the mess. Sears said they would send a new refrigerator, but it would be a week before it would come in. They also had a repairman come the following Wednesday, and I was told he would arrive between 8 and 5. What a waist of a day. The repairman couldn't do anything because parts would have to be ordered and wouldn't arrive until after the new refrigerator came. Then, because we didn't buy the extended warranty we couldn't be reimbursed for all the food loss. I had extra food in the refrigerator because I had company for Christmas.
For the next week I had to use coolers outside for my cold food. You don't know how hard it was using coolers for a week when you have company; running in and outside in the middle of winter looking for the food you need and bringing stuff in at night so it doesn't freeze. I can't believe we weren't compensated for anything after only having the refrigerator for a few short hours.

Dangerous
We purchased an expensive stainless kenmore freestanding electric range a couple years ago. After only 1 1/2 years the black top started to deteriorate and two of the elements corroded and shorted out (twice with fires!!). We have had to replace all four burners twice now...a few weeks ago while cleaning the front of the oven door my finger was nearly amputated due to the edge of the stainless around the window. Also about 2 months ago when I went to open the oven door, the entire door feel apart, glass separating from the frame, etc...luckily no one was hurt in that incident. Fast forward, Thanksgiving 08, teenage kids home alone and cooking (18 & 19) and again a burner starts sparking and catches fire, they try to shut off the burner but the entire stove went crazy and the cleaning system kicked in, locking the door and heating up quickly! They had enough sense to run to the breaker and shut it off...now nothing works on the stove...at least I dont' have to worry about my grandchildren loosing their fingers any more!!!
