Model # doesn't exist
I purchased a Sears Kenmore refrigerator, model # 596.73509203 in May 2004. Six weeks ago the refrigerator stopped working. I called the appliance repair and they came to the house and advised I needed to replace the compressor and printed circuit board. They had the compressor but not the circuit board - it had to be ordered. Two weeks go by and they come to replace the PCB and it's the wrong one. They re-order it and another two weeks go by. The part comes in and the 2nd PCB is wrong. Now Sears is saying they can't identify the model # even though it's clearly listed on the tag inside the refrigerator. On Saturday, I physically took my original Sears receipt, the manual that came with the refrigerator and the actual PCB to the Sears Parts store in McMurray PA. They could not identify it or the model #. They did order me a part they "think" might work but until it comes in, we have no way of knowing. I can't believe that a Sears product purchsased 6 1/2 years ago would not be recorded anywhere in your system. I have been without a refrigerator for 6 weeks and I really need to get this fixed. I went to Sears and looked at new ones but they were too expensive. The Sears salesperson told me the average life of an appliance is 5-7 years. If I can get another 5 years out of this one by replacing the compressor & PCB, it makes sense for me to want to get this fixed. He also told me you now make your products compliant with energy star. He said the new appliances have to be energy efficient but no one mandates how long they have to last. All I want is the correct part so I can get my refrigerator repaired and back in use. can anyone help me?

Not working
Last Aug. 2010, I purchased a Sears Kenmore Refrigerator, 21 cu. ft. and now Nov. 8th the appliance is NOT WORKING and I lost all my food products, both frozen and other foods which has totaled over $200. in loss to me. A repair man is taking over two week s to come to look at the problem and in the meantime, I have been purchasing ice to keep minimum foods from spoiling. What can you do to help us. We are 90 and 84 yrs. old. Thankyou.

Horrioble repair services
We had waited for almost a month for parts to be ordered and shipped. The the repairman from Sears came and supposedly fixed the icemaker and all. 5 days later, it started leaking profusely. I called 800 number and "JP" told me to turn off the water and to wait till next Thursday (5 more days) because this is the first available day. I asked him what to do with this leak. He said: well, find the valve and turn it off. I asked him about same or next day repair service they offer online. He said: only if your refrigerator is not cooling and you have medicine or baby formula in it. how do you like that? I asked: so it is ok for me to be without water for 5 days. He said: Mam, you know your options. Good bye. And just like that, he hung up on me. HE HUNG UP?! Can you believe that? I think that says all about the level of service at SEARS repairs.

I purchased a refrigerator from Sears and I will never buy from sears again. We had a problem with the fridge and the kenmore service company contracted by sears to service it never showed up after my wife waited all day for the service repair man. The company then hung up on us when we called to complain, explaining that they had 100 people to service and were too busy.
The service company also bills u $65.00 before they even show up, which by the way they didn't. So if u are willing to deal with sears and Kenmore's lousy service department go right ahead but be warned.
Sears is the worst company to deal with. It is like they don't even care whic they probably don't.

Not Working
I contacted Sears repairs when my Ice maker stopped working in June. At the time the refrigerator was still under warrarnty. The warranty went out in July. The refrigerator still wasn't fixed and was left in worse shape. It doesn't work at all. I am still paying for the refrigerator and have been told that I am out of luck. I will not be reimbursed nor will Sears trade the refrigerator in for one that works.
I am contacting the BBB.
Can you do anything?

Burning
Kenmore Refrigerator Model # 795.77553600 lights burned so hot melted plastic and turned light sockets brown. Ruined refrigerator contents and Sears refuses to get a technician out for 3 days even if I am willing to pay.

PTC Relay Burns Causing Smoke
My wife was in the kitchen when it suddenly filled with a white, foul smelling smoke. I quickly disconnected all appliances and opened all windows. After a couple hours it was marginally bearable to begin plugging devices back in. The smell became worse as soon as the refrigerator was reconnected. I unplugged it again and removed the cardboard cover from the back. Plugging it back in caused the PTC relay on the compressor to start to burn. Much of the plastic had already burned and some had melted. I would be surprised if the smoke is not highly toxic. The relay did not unplug easily from the compressor as one contact seems welded together from sparking. As yet I have not replaced the relay but have contacted the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and emailed Sears. I find it unbelievable that as many complaints as I have read Sears hasn't yet issued a recall!

broken parts
We purchased a new Kenmore refrigerator at Sears. I was excited to have a new refrigerator as my previous refrigerators had been used. After one year, three of the door shelves and two of the drawers were broken. I didn't realize this until after the one year warrantee was up. We called about replacing these parts, and found it would cost over $100 for a single door shelf. I couldn't stand the idea of buying $1200 refrigerator to spend half as much on replacing parts to make it look nice after only a year, so we duct-tapped all the drawers and shelves. They are now functional - but I thought I would have a nice new refrigerator for at least a few years. My old, used refrigerator had no duct tape on it at all. I would like very much to talk to the CEO of this company about how wasteful this kind of manufacturing is. If anyone knows how to do this, please let me know. It's very important that our country take a hard look at itself and ask how we have become such a disposable nation.

bad refrigerator
I bought a Kenmore refrigerator and payed over $1000 for it. I thought it was a good refrigerator but after 6 months the problems started. the first time, after I brought food and filled the refrigerator all the food was all frozen. I call them up and they say they could send a tech to repair it, they never told me they could credit me for any food lost. But this happen 3 times after the 3 time I ask them I wanted them to pay for my food, but it took me 5 phone call to get a check in the mail. I just have problems after problems since them but they won't replaced it or give the money back. just a week ago they fix the freezer side, it was over freezing everything, the ice water is drifting at the bottom and there is a lot ice I try to keep clean. Now, after 2 days of them coming it doing the same thing. I am so frustrated.
