Offer for $ 100 Gas Voucher & $25 Walmart Voucher
A Representative named Justin Jones from a company named Key Club Save, located in "New York, " called me offering a $25 Walmart & $100 Gas Voucher. He said that their company worked along side with these marketing companies and that during the Month of September 2009 they were calling people from a public database for "Customer Appreciation Month." He stated that in order for me to receive this package I needed only to provide a "one-time" shipping/handling charge of $4.96 and that I must provide my credit card information. I was unneasy through the conversation because I receive many of these phone calls from people or companies whom I do not affiliate. I then proceeded to tell them that I would not be interested unless they sent me information through the mail ontheir business and he continued to say that he already gave me the companies name, and that he's giving me a "confirmation number, " and continued by asking me why I was uncomfortable about giving "my" credit card number and expiration date, that even if I did provide this information that no other authorized transactions would not be possible without a signature. ??? Obviously, the formality of the conversation was unprofessional and I did not go with the offer. The way that he spoke to me was very manipulating in the fact that if I would have adhered to any of his suggestions I could have easily been taken by his "slick comments." My complaint is why couldn't he just send me some information on the validity of the company and their business functions. Ultimately, I just got this vibe that this wasn't something good and I shouldn't give such personal information over the phone, especially if its not something I asked for. .. Oh Yeah, and that reminds me, he even said to me that my credit card number and the expiration date was not "personal information." lol
