My name is Shawn and I was recently in your dealership and had a very terrible experience with your dealership. I just wanted to inform you that I plan on send this same letter to the above listed media services so they can be aware of the experience that no one should have encountered. The story goes as follows:
'I have been looking for a certain vehicle for the past few weeks. I found my (at least I thought I found) dream car which was a 2008 Cadillac CTS at your dealership. I have been watching it for a week and finally decided to drive up to your location to have a look at at on April 1st. My friend told me that I need to be careful because when he did the car fax online, it stated that this vehicle is white according to the vin number that is listed -This is the 1st red flag. He mentioned that some dealerships would try the 'ole bait and switch' to lure customers into the dealership. I should have listened but I wanted to give this dealership a chance. I walk into the dealership and was working with someone named Bruce. I inquired about the car and he said that the car is red and there must have been a mistake. I thought about it and said that I will give him a chance. We sat down, he filled out a credit application and came back to the table where my children and I were sitting. Here comes the 2nd red flag. He immediately said, “Hey, there is a mistake on that car. It's supposed to be listed at $20, 990.” I said WOW, but this isn't my fault because this is a mistake that your dealership made and you have to honor the price that it's listed at. Bruce said your right, lets work the numbers. I told him several times that instead of us wasting our time sitting here, please tell me what my trade is worth so I will know what I need to do. He kept saying it will only be a few minutes later. Then told me, “Lets test drive this car and see how you like it.” I said fine and drove it for about 15 minutes and came back. He was trying to sell me on the features and benefits of the car but there was one problem...he didn't know as much about the car as he thought. I kept asking about the button on the side of the seat and then asked him about he engine. Here comes red flag number 3 - He replied, “this is a 4 cylinder car.” I kept saying, are you sure, because you have it listed as a 6 cylinder car. He kept telling me, “no that is wrong but I will check on it “(I never did give me an answer). Well, after 3 hours and him being very pushy, we agreed and shook hands on $345 per month for 72 months with $2, 000 down. I said that should be fine. I drove 30 miles all the way home. After talking to my wife, I called Bruce back and explained to him that I don't have the $2, 000 for a down payment. The only way that I can get a $2, 000 down payment is if I don't pay my mortgage and that isn't going to happen for a car. I did explain to him that I do have $1, 000 for a down payment. He began whispering and said, “Look, I'm trying to sell a car today. We will do it with $1, 000 down for 72 months with a payment of $345 with a single digit rate and work out some side deal to get more for your car. So I said great, I'm on my way back up there. - Red Flag number 4 - So I drove back to the dealership (another 30 miles) and Bruce introduced me to someone name Pierre. Bruce said that he was working another deal, but he explained to Pierre everything and knows whats going on and will get the paperwork ready. So now I'm talking with Pierre and he began asking me the same questions that Bruce was asking me about the down payment. I told Pierre the same thing. I only have $1, 000 for a down payment and I'm not going to miss a mortgage payment just to buy a car and you can get a commission. No way! - Red Flag number 5 - Pierre walked away and talked to someone in finance. He finally came back and said that unless you have the $2, 000, your payment will be $534 per month for 72 months. I asked what happened and he said that $1, 000 is that much of a difference in the payment. Now, I'm not a genius, but I really don't think a payment can go from $345 to $534 per month based on a $1, 000 difference. Pierre didn't answer and wouldn't show me the paperwork he was clutching. He basically told me that $1, 000 down – no car but don't pay my mortgage and pay $2, 000 down - you can take the care home. Now thats integrity!
