This complaint is against Kingsrow Apartments, located in Lindenwold, New Jersey. Kingsrow Apartments is owned and operated by Allstate Management. Apparently, the two work together to fraud people in regard to their Surety Bonds that they offer potential tenants.
I moved into Kingsrow Apartments back in 2008. Upon my moving in, the Property Manager, Jill and her superior Pauline both persuaded me to purchase one of their Surety Bonds in place of a normal (refundable) Security Deposit, that normal apartment complexes charge for a potential tenant moving in to one of their respective apartment communities.
It was explained to me (misinterpreted) that the Surety Bond that I paid $262.00, would act the same as a Security Deposit, and that once my lease was up, the Surety Bond would be supplied to any outstanding monies that the apartment complex could or would claim against my being a tenant there. Evidently, this proved not to be the case. And, after a lengthy battle with Kingsrow Apartments and their mother company Allstate Management, I still have not received resolution.
I stayed at Kingsrow Apartments for a considerable amount of time. During my stay there, I barely lived in the apartment. However, upon my moving out, I was charged erroneous charges that were said to be for damages that were claimed against me. In addition, I did owe one month's back rent, due to financial difficulties at that time. Consequently, Kingsrow Apartments and Allstate Management worked diligently to brand me in a negative financial way and has reported me to all of the credit bureaus for monies I never even owed them.
Overall, Kingsrow Apartments and Allstate Management has taken extreme advantage of me and I do believe that their intentions against me were racially motivated; however, that is a whole separate issue. The main issue is that I was financially manipulated by Kingsrow Apartments.
As a result of this discrepancy that has gone on for a year now, I now get denials from apartment complexes because they claim that I still owe Kingsrow Apartments and I am not tenant-worthy... even after my explaining my entire ordeal to them (insensitive and unethical indeed)...
I have come to understand how businesses contractually abuse consumers and how they hide behind "fine print" in regard to their construed contracts. This complaint is to serve as a fair warning to anyone (no matter your race, sex or nationality) and everyone who would consider signing a contract. Make certain to completely read and understand what you sign. If you do not understand what you are signing, then I would suggest that you have someone knowledgeable (maybe an honest enough attorney) interperet it for you.
The contracts that businesses are construing nowadays are extremely and overly-harsh, as well as credit-damaging. Make certain to never become victim and to take legal action against any entity that attempts to violate your rights.
