Kirby vacuum ruined my floor
Kirby vacuum ruined my tile floor. I was told by salesperson that I could use kirby vacuum on my stone tile floor. I followed the directions in the manual and the kirby vacuum left scratches all over my floor (not repairable). I contacted Kirby, they told me it was my fault for not reading directions - after I told them that I was told by an employee in their company that I could use this on my floor. They also told me I did not read the manual. I tried to tell them that I did. They refuse to help me replace my floor that their product destroyed.

Sell, sell, sell. No money until you sell.
So... My boyfriend got hired on to sell Kirby vacuums. He was told that if he did not get enough appointments to demo the Kirby vacuum he would not make any money (five dollars per demo). He was also told that he needed to sell the vacuum at top dollar if he wanted to make top commission for each vacuum sold. Essentially he was told that if he spent eight hours a day trying to sell some vacuums and was not successful, he would not make ANY MONEY. Please note that his Manager told him that the Vacuums are high end quality products that sell themselves. Furious at what my boyfriend had told me, how can anyone treat hard working people like that, I decided to go talk to the Manager. When I walked into the Managers office, I was blown away by how filthy dirty their own carpets were. DO NOT EVER PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT. I do not believe that it works. If the vacuums worked, their carpets would be squeaky clean!

door to door salesmen
PLEASE DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOMES. EVERY STORY IS THE SAME...HE "CALLS" HIS BOSS AFTER THE FOUR HOUR DEMO...HE USED MY HOME PHONE # TO MAKE THE LONG DISTANCE CALL, I THOUGHT HE DIDN'T HAVE A CELL, THEN HE PULLED THE CELL OUT TO CALL HIS VAN FULL OF BUDDIES...HE EVEN WENT INTO MY BEDROOM TO CLEAN THE COOTIES OUT OF OUR MATTRESS. OMG!! THE VACCUME ORIGIONALL COST 1995...THEN HE TOOK 200 OFF. HE EXPECTED ME TO PUCHASE THIS THING WITHOUT CONSULTING MY HUSBAND! THEN, THE LAST PRICE WAS $700. I STILL REFUSED. HOW WOULD ANYONE MAKE SUCH A LARGE PURCHASE WITHOUT ASKING A SPOUSE. HE TOLD ME THAT I GO TO THE GROCER EVERY DAY, TRYING TO MAKE A JUSTIFCATION...HE TOLD ME MY HUBBY WOULD MAKE A LARGE PURCHASE WITHOUT CONSULTING ME. NOTHING WORKED WITH THIS GUY...FINALLY, MY HUBBY HAPPENED TO CALL...HE TOLD ME TO GET HIM OUT...AND I DID. WHEN HE GOT HOME, HE JOKINGLY SAID..."WHO LETS VACCUME CLEANER SALESMEN IN?" I ANSWERED..."CRAZY PEOPLE"...NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER LET THESE FOLKS IN!!!YOU WILL PAY BY FEELING STUPID FOR A FEW DAYS.

Unfair treatment/unlawful practices
I'm a former employee of the chop shop in Granada Hills, California. And my story is just about the same as everyone else's experience as a kirby salesman, the lies, etc.. They are deceitful from the start, the guy goes around posting multiple vague craigslist ads, with multiple different company names, but the same contact number.. How stupid really are you? I won't go into to much details, but you are quickly forced to sign some bs contract before they show you that there is no promised leads, basically putting it clear in your face that you will never ever get the base pay that is promised from the get go. that is why our "trainer" gave us the look of go ahead and fill in $450 a week, it doesn't matter if you put $1000 a week you will never get it, type of smile.. Anyways they fill your head that you were chosen, and that this isn't for everyone, so to feel special and positive. They also fill your head with false hopes of becoming rich, and them talking of being rich already within months, but i never once saw the car this person drove, or any type of cash for that matter since he said he was all about money. Anyways we learn about the product through a three day training, and like everyone else we are told that the first weekend is for "practice" for our families and friends, but will have bonuses and prizes if one is sold. So the Con-artist of a "distributer" explains the prizes, and is on his way.. So the weekend rolls around, i try it at my own house, blah blah, i do my first practice demo and the person (no names) is interested. so long story shortened they follow through with the sale. When i get to work the following week, i recieve no bonus i was promised, so being a man of thier word goes out the door right there, but im told we will discuss it when we get back. So we pile into a peice of shit econoline or somthing and start going neighborhood to neighborhood lieing of a false promotion just to get into their homes to show the kirby. If you want people who are going to be willing to go door to door and suckered into working for free why don't you just post that in your job description you scum. Anyways, we go around door to door getting no demos whatsoever, while simultaneously i'm learning how everything, and i mean EVERYTHING, works by a kid who said he'd been there for X months and was actually quitting that day, i learned very quickly from he/she that this is just a scam of labor, there is no promised 15 set appointments, therefore there is no promised money to be made. You have to hope you get a person to let you in their home 15 times within a week and even then you have to make a class A credit sale aswell. As i learned more i raised awareness with those who were already aware, one of them expressed there doubt with our "trainer", and was instantly shamed, and not going into detail still, was slandered and hated on. At first i didnt mind because thats his or her opinion and is fine with me, but when i figured out that it was a pyramid scheme i felt as if how dare he slander this guy and talk bad about him behind his back, just because he is aware of your scam and wants stability because he has bills to pay, and doesnt want to be tooken for a ride, and end up broke. So we get back to the office a few hours later, and im piecing everything together. I'm told that the sale i made was a bad credit one, so they instantly take me off the sale at that point like stated in the bulls*** contract, and that ill be informed whats going on with it over the phone. I later see the so called "multi-millionaire, " distributer drive off in the beat up econoline. I get home later on to find out the horror or googling "kirby" and "scam." I instantly realized this situation wasnt new, and decided to quit. They tried to call me weak for being aware, but sorry that im not "smart enough to listen, but dumb enough to follow." Your own saying literally applies to what you'd need to be to work for someone like you. I will not say any names of the people that took part in this scandal, but you know who you are, and please if you are seeked by these people, or they try to come into your home, tell them to f**k off and call the cops. They are lucky that i did not go into any detailing as they would be looking at some serious offenses and accusations, they have to live with their own slimy selves at the end of the day.. That is my rant, if you learn anything from this complaint its TO NEVER EVER WORK FOR ANYONE WHO SAYS THE WORDS; KIRBY, SENTRIA, AND MONEY FOR THAT MATTER. Because they will never ever pay you.

Tried to put me down in front of my girlfriend
I had a Kirby employee from b.l.f. distributing inc. vm jeffrey cabrera come to my house and promise to clean the carpets in my house if i just aloud him to do a prensentation for me. He said to me that i was not obligated to buy anythin at all it was just a free cleaning that would be done curtesy of the kirby company for me putting the word out there.. Basically word of mouth advertising...
The Kirby employee was in my home from 8:17 pm till about 12:05 am. I told him multiple times that i needed to think about it $1, 600 was a large investment for a vacume cleaner.. This employee continued trying to sell me the kirby. I eventually told him leave your card here and i will give you a call we can use these vacuums for the company i work for and i can guarantee that we would buy them because i am a regional director for this company..
The kirby employee continued to state well im here for this contest if i dont seel this kirby today i do not get any commission for it and my company makes the money not me so i will not give you any cards or try to sell you a kirby after today if you do not buy it now.. After telling him multiple times to leave a business card and i would call him he put the agreement in front of my face for me to sign and i said no!! He continued to ask my girlfriend if she wanted the kirby because it was obvious i would not buy it for her..
The Kirby employee continued until she said no.. When she said no he took the agreement ripped it up and threw it out while he said " This is riduculous, If i was with you wife i would buy this kirby for here " I tried to cut him off and he continued.. " Its obvios to me that if you had you own house it would be filthy. " You obviously dont like having a clean house that why you dont want this kirby " I said to him i want your manager name and i want to talk to him.. He said " Ill be glad to give u his name hes not gonna do anything about it anyways ".. If you werent so cheap i wouldnt have to take this kirby out of this house right now" It was apparent to me that Kirby Hires hood rats like this guy to work for them.. The employee did not have a kirby id, proper uniform, or business card... This hood rat jeffrey did have a salesperson with him named emmett that was extremely nice and polite.. He did his job as a salesperson to try to make money and never got angry or blurd any immature or ghetto things out of his mouth.. Everything that was done here was against the law i did not even see a permitt to do sales.. kirbys customer care phone number is 1-800-494-8586.. fax# 216-529-6146. I will be filing every complaint possible against this employee and company... This should not be aloud especially considering the fact that my carpets were never cleaned as promised and he was in my house until 12:05 at night.. This jeffrey guy also pretended to be out of bethel when i looked up the company he actually work for was B.L.F. Distributing Inc. located at 531 south clewell street, Fountain Hill, PA, 18105

Lying about pay
Was told we would get paid training. Was told we would get weekly paychecks. Was told that I would never have to go door-to-door because I was a sales rep and the canvassers would be doing that job.
Lies, all of it. I worked for them for 9 straight days (including the 5 days of "paid" training) the last 3 of which were 14 hour days. We were all forced to knock on doors well into the evening. Being forced to knock doors all night in the cold and rain made me sick, so I was out for a few days, then decided that it wasnt worth going back when I was told that I wasnt going to be paid for training, and that I also wouldnt be getting a comission check for the $3, 000 Kirby vacuum I had sold. Needless to say this company is a whole lotta BS and I dont recommend anyone going to work for them.

Employment contract
I went for an interview after SMS my details to a number in the paper. It was advertised for R12000.00 plus comm per month. I was really excited as my fiance and I are both out of a job. I went for my first training on Wednesday last week. Carried on after most of the team left already. I was then called into Dirk van Niekerk's (office manager) office and was told that he would like to promote me to area training assistant/supervisor. I was so pleased as I am a very motivational person and thought somebody finally saw that. I got to work on Monday expecting my employment contract, not for a sales consultant, but for this senior position he has just asked me to do. I left it, carried on with training, got close to 50 leads for them and on Tuesday this week when I insisted on my employment contract, got given a normal sales contract and was told it is for Head office purposes so that they do not get into trouble for promoting somebody so fast. They insisted I sign my contract there and then and I refused. I took the contract home and found out why they insisted me to sign the contract there. There were ifs, maybes and buts as to the way you earn your R12000.00 which was impossible. I feel totally used, I was positive, motivated the other sales consultants and got them a lot of clients who are possible buyers. And I was congratulated on a sale, however I know I will not see that comm. Oh and there was some blonde girl named Lee-Ann who was supposidly Kirby's training spesialist who earns R65000.00 per month which is what she told us. She is giving Kirby a bad name talking about all the sex things which are done on the different trips to countries she has won through Kirby. I really do not think when Mr. Kirby designed his machine nearly 100 years ago, this is what he wanted.

Scam
Beware of Kirby sales scam - they reel you in to get in to your house with a pitch that they will get a free vacation or some kind of credit just to let them show you the vac.
The salseperson showed no ID, gave no buisness card, had no Kirby shirt, the van had no authorized Kirby signage (it had Kirby written in crayon on the window!)
Even though you say your not interested and won't be buying one (I told the salesperson I had just bought a new Bissell carpet machine and a Hoover Whirlwind) - But they make you feel sorry for them saying no one else has let them show their vac today and they will get a free vacation or some kind of credit and you don't have to be interested in buying one but you will get a FREE carpet cleaning. A TOTAL LIE!!
They lie to you and tell you you don't have to buy anything to get a FREE CARPET CLEANING but they end up only cleaning one very small area for the sales demo.
Again they lie and say the demo won't take long but it takes at least 2 and a half hours! You will have trouble getting them to leave when they were there too long, they get dropped off and tell you they have to wait for the driver to come back. You will have to demand they leave and kick them out.
I did like some things about the kirby, (it seems to have an amazingly strong suction and is supposedly made in the USA) however it is way, way overpriced and I wouldn't give this scumbag company a dime because of the way they choose to have their product marketed, I don't care how good it is!
I say "they" because if you look at all of the other posts on the web you will find that all of these exact same tactics were used over and over by other Kirby salespeople with other consumers, that tells me that these tactics are part of the Kirby sales training!
Also beware they will use an authorized subcontract distributor sales company who in turn could hire (without their knowledge) any criminal scum without a background check to come in to your house, or even worse the salesperson may not even be an authorized Kirby salesperson at all, or may be a scam artist trying to sell stolen Kirbys or just take your money or steal something from your house.
The sales people were asking too many personal questions. Beware of anyone you let in to your house, they see what you have and they could come back (or have someone else)later to burgularize your house!
Kirby Company is scum of the earth for allowing these sales tactics to be used.
