Rebate scam
I sent in all the things required to Kitchen aid to receive my rebates, I received a letter stating I did not send in a cash register receipt. I had bought this on line and received an email from Kohl's that they recevied my order. I am sending more info in and hopefully will get my rebate back.

Whats up with this? I think its a scam!!! Beware buying a Kitchen aid mixer and hoping you will get the rebate and the free recipe book and subscription to a magazine. I also cut out the UPC code from the box!!!

Scam
We purchased a Kitchenaid dishwasher and it was installed in July '08. The rack tines were never well covered when installed. When we first tried to start the dishwasher, it would not start. Kitchenaid had to replace the motherboard before we could start it. Now the racks, including the glass and cupholder racks which came with it are rusted out. Kitchenaid has a warranty on the racks from year two through five written in their "Dishwasher User Instructions" which came with the dishwasher. After two months of waiting, we finally received the replaced upper and lower racks, but not the glass and cupholder racks which are a part of the racks and made out of the same material. They are charging me $116.23 for the glass and cupholder racks, saying that these racks are not included in the warranty. You might want to think twice prior to buying a Kitchenaid appliance. We have a Kitchenaid refrigerator purchased at the same time as the dishwasher, and we had multiple service calls in the first year. These are expensive appliances, but we have found them to be lacking in quality.

DEFECTIVE PRODUCT
I have reached out to many companies over the years but have never had a worse experience than I recently had with KitchenAid. Horrendous customer service pretty much sums it up.

I purchased a 7-cup KitchenAid Food Processor during the summer of 2010 at a local Bed, Bath and Beyond store. I only used this processor a few times when the handle of the plastic bowl broke during normal use. Pieces just came off in my hand making the unit unusable since it must lock into the back to operate the unit.

I contacted KitchenAid customer service in early December 2010 giving them the model number and purchase information, I also explained the bowl was defective and asked how to arrange a replacement since no product should come undone… especially after light use.

It took THREE WEEKS before they wrote back to me. Instead of offering help or to make the situation right, I received a curt two line response telling me I was welcome to ORDER a new bowl for $39.99 and gave me a link to their webs site where I could place my order.

I was taken back. No apology for the defective merchandise or weeks taken to write me back, just a sale pitch to pay nearly $40 for an item that should not have broken to begin with. I wrote back immediately received absolutely no response.

I then wrote the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. While the BBB has always been very helpful, KitchenAid continued to be rude and indignant right in the face of myself and the organization. They claimed my unit purchase during the summer was “years old” (calling me a liar) and that without me finding me proving where and exactly when (date, time, etc) I purchased this unit, they would not offer any help at all.

Again, stunned. Not only did they take weeks to respond to my original inquiry, never responded to me a second time and not once made an apology for their defective item, they we calling me a liar about when I purchased the unit instead of working with me to resolve the issue. I responded explaining again that this was a plastic bowl, should be replaced at no charge and the $40 replacement price of the bowl was more than half what I paid for the entire unit. I also stated I would never take time to reach out to a company on several occasions has I not purchased this machine when I said. My time is much more valuable.

I had hoped my final letter would awake their sense of right and wrong. No such luck. They responded today to the BBB with another curt message (unsigned) saying it was “the customer’s responsibility” to provide them with the information they demanded. They ended the message with no further comment. As far as they were concerned, they were done with me.

I have never in my life experience a more poorly run company nor customer service organization. Weeks to respond to customers looking for help, followed by endless debate and calling their customers liars instead of offering assistance.

My search of the web shows my experience does not stand alone. I hope all will take pause before purchasing ANY Whirlpool or KitchenAid products in the future. I certainly will. BUYER BEWARE!

repairs
I bought top of the line appliances from KitchenAid in the summer of '09. Within six months my dishwasher required repair and that was hell to get a repair person out. In October of 2010 my fridge broke down. Everything went to waste and it took them almost two weeks for a repair. I complained to KitchenAid consumer affairs and they offered me a $75.00 monetary gift or if I went online I could choose any countertop appliance up to $125.00. As it turned out when I tried to get a coffee maker they had online I was refused because they said the offer was based on MSRP, not on the price stated online. Needless to say I just spent another hour on the phone and am empty
handed when it came to their courtesy gesture. They rip off the consumer and don't even try to make amends.

Slide in stainless steel range
Purchased range 5 years ago from Kitchenaid. Have had the control panel to work the oven, 3 times. 6 months ago 2 of the burners stopped working and now the control panel is out again. After 5 years and multiple service calls, only 2 burners left on the range...it will cost almost as much to fix or just get a new one...have had other ranges, that have lasted over 15 years...Kithenaid will do nothing...their customer service is unconcerning. Don't need to do business with a company that makes inferior products, but spends alot of $$ on marketing only to not stand by their poor quality.

Rebate scam
I would like to speak to someone who can help redeem my Rebate. Here is some history for you

1. I sent in my Rebate form and receipt to you and it was returned because I did not provide the UPC code

2. I called Kitchenaid and spoke to a representative and asked her what the UPC code was. She told me it was on the box. While on the phone with the rep she walked me through where the UPC code could be found. She then told me to write it down and send it back to Kitchenaid with the receipt and the UPC code. I then mailed all the information back to you.

3. I received another letter from you while I was away for 3 months saying that you needed me to cut the UPC code off the box. I then called you again letting you know that I just got the letter because I was away and can I send it now. I was told that I was late but to send it in so they can work with me on my issue.

4. Today 12/8/2010 I called and they told me that the case is closed and there is no way I can get my Rebate. I spoke to several people regarding this and no one is willing to help me. Sophia was very curt of the phone and was less then willing to help then I spoke to Barbara who was understanding but said there is no one in all of Kitchen Aide who can help me. She noted my frustration and could understand it but reiterated that Kitchenaid will not honor the rebate because the case is closed.

I am very disappointed that I will not receive my rebate from Kitchenaid. I do understand and take ownership of the fact that I did not send the UPC code originally. But when I did call and resent it, I did follow the instructions of you customer service rep which she indicated that I needed to write it down and send it in. At that point I assumed I was all set and the rebate was in the mail. I then left for 3 months and was surprised that when I returned that the rebate was not in the mail. I am sorry that the rep gave me inaccurate information for the 2nd mailing and because of that I would have never thought that I would have to mail the information a 3rd time. I was late or the 3rd mailing because I was away but once I returned I called and send it to you immediately.

This company makes it so difficult to get your rebate. It is said that they make a great product but they have the worst customer service.

Needs a wakeup call
I originally purchased a Kitchenaid Convection double oven, paid $2, 100.00 plus. This is a poorly engineered product and should never have been sold to any consumer. Cannot use the self-cleaning option on either oven, it trips a sensor which is about $100.00 to replace. The bottom oven door hinges are inadequate, we have had to replace them 8 times. Contacted Gwen at Kitchen-aid, offered to give me a few bucks off a comparable oven which they current distribute...$3, 100.00 Really, are you kidding me, I would rather cook in a dutch oven outside in the middle of winter than purchase any kitchenaid product again. Who wants to join a class action law-suit?

oven
I have a Kitchenaid microwave/oven combo that the membrain switch went out in. The part has been on back order for 6 months now. The appliance was produced in August of 1999 so this tells me that the kitchenaid brand has a life span of 10 years. Before this incident, I purchase a Kitchenaid refrigerator and stove top based on the reputation of being top of the line. Never again will I purchase this brand. Brands like Frigidaire costs a fraction of the price and last twice as long. I have contacted Kitchenaid but received the same message over and over again.

Double Oven
I too have had to put over $1, 000.00 into repairs of my Kitchenaid Convection Double Ovens. We cannot use the self-cleaning as it trips a sensor, we thought it was a fluke until we had to have the sensor replaced for the third time. In addition, the lower oven door hinges are engineered poorly. We have replaced them 8 times. We have begged for a solution to both, however, Kitchenaid response is, sorry. They won't recall or replace if it isn't a health hazzard. Why won't large companies stand behind their products?
I am considereing filing a class action lawsuit. Would anyone like to join me?

Broken after 5 repairs
When we redid our kitchen last year we bought a new 'highly rated' KitchenAid compactor. We had 2 compactors previously, and each went 8+ years without a single repair. This one is 18 months old and is broken again after being repaired 5 times!!

The first two times it was the switch that needed to be replaced. The third time it made a very loud thumping noise which was very worrisome. The fourth and fifth times the main gear (which is only plastic!!) broke. And this past time the repairman (whom I have depended on for years) tells me the motor is shot as well.

I have written to and called KitchenAid and not heard back from them. Very frustrating!
