kitchenaid sucks! July 3, 2010
Overall Quality
We have the Kitchenaid KEMC308KSS01 convection microwave/oven combo. Had to replace the microwave light bulb and now the magnetron and high voltage rectifier. The quality of this product is the worst that I've seen. As an engineer, I can tell you that the design is a failure and unsafe as well. If I had children, I'd remove this unit immediately because the microwave door design is faulty and unsafe to say the least. The only good news is that I can fix this pile of $hit myself so we've only spent $400 on parts so far; had we used a repairman, it would have cost over $1K! Half of the screws came stripped from the factory, seven were missing and a ground wire was not connected which could be extremely dangerous. The materials that comprise this unit and the terrible design and manufacturing, in no way justify the cost of this product. We will never buy Whirlpool or Kitchenaid again---NEVER! Good luck to all that are experiencing the same thing.

Extended Service Plan
My credit card was incorrectly charged for a KitchenAid Extended Service Plan for our refrigerator on March 13, 2010. The card was charged on 3/15/2010. Called the Service Plan Administrator that day with a followup letter. Repeated phone calls to many different companies connected to the plan and all I get is promises for a refund. My credit card account has not been refunded the $361.97 as of May 18, 2010. I have never experienced such a run around in my 77 years on this earth. All I want is my money back. They continue to promise it will be taken care of but that has not happened. My question to them is how is it that they can charge my visa account in two days after submission but can not return my money in 65 days?? This is bordering on fraud. I have contacted the California Bureau of Electronic and Appliance Repair and Department of Consumer affairs to get relief on this outrages customer service. Richard

All 5 appliances faulty
ALL of our Kitchenaid appliances have had on-going repair in the short 5 years we've been in our home.

1. The hinge on the oven door keeps snapping - leaving the door agape.

2. The door on our second oven 'conveniently' locks due to a sensor poor design.

3. The microwave door spring just gave again.

4. The Kithenaid refrigerator pan leaks.

5. Our $800 Kitchenaid dishwasher which is only a year and a half old just died. Repair came out a long week later and replaced the motor only to find that's not the problem. Another week later we're waiting to have a new control panel installed.

ANY and all suggestions for fighting this with Kitchenaid welcomed! Believe in Karma.

micro/oven combo
We purchased $9000 worth of "top of the line" KitchenAid appliances (frig, dishwasher, cooktop and micro/oven combo) on May 30 2009. They were installed the end of June and I began enjoying my dream kitchen. On August 22 the microwave quit "microing". Looks like it's working however nothing gets hot. Called for service and was told A & E Factory Service would be here August 31 between 8 and 5. Took the day off and they called at 1 in the afternoon to say they wouldn't be here until Wednesday, Sept 2. I agreed to that but when I went to mark it on my calender I realized I had to take my mother to the doctor that day. Called back and was given a date of Sept 9, again between 8 and 5. Their automated phone system is frustrating and when you finally get a person they don't have any history of your problem and you have to repeat the whole story. So we've gotten less than 2 months service out of a $3200 appliznce and have to wait over 2 weeks for service. They did say they were "sorry" which does me no good what so ever. It's the last thing we'll ever buy with the KitchenAid name on it.

Irresponsible company
We purchased a new home with a kitchenAid dishwasher. The electronics broke within 6 months of use. It has now been 5 months and 5 repair visits and the dishwasher still does not work. Each time the repairman comes, he leaves the dishwasher in worse shape than before. @-4 weeks pass between each repair call as they order new parts which ar frequently on back order. No one calls to tell you anything. The customer service people from Kitchenaid point to A&E. A&E points to Kitchenaid. Meanwhile I wash dishes by hand for 5 months.

Both companies are irresponsible and should be avoided by all consumers at all costs.

Overpriced
My KitchenAid microwave touch pad went bad after it was purchased two years ago. KitchenAid scheduled an appointment with A&E Factory Service. Replacement of the touch pad took ten minutes and the total bill was $201.29 or roughly $1200/hr. If this cost isn't price gouging, I do not know waht is. I contact KitchenAid asking them to intervene and or advise customers of costs, KitchenAid does not want to know anything.

Extended Warranty
Purchased an extended warranty for my KitchenAid KUDP02IRBT0. The unit was purchased new in Feb. 2007. One year and 3 months later, the unit stopped cleaning dishes and soap remained in the dishwasher undesolved. Ten repairs later by three different authorized repairmen (changed motor, circuit board, water fill valve, water fill shut-off, and many other parts) the unit still does not desolve the soap. I tried liquid soap, powder soap, tablets. The water temperature is over 150 degrees. The water is run before the dishwasher is started and smoke comes out of the faucet. Now, over 10 months later still no resolution. I want to exercise the lemon law but apparently the same part must fail three times! Nobody is able to fit it and I am without a washer. I will be taking them to small claims unless they resolve and will also be informing the AG Office and Missouri's epartment of Insurance, Financial, and Professional Registration. I will never buy another KitchenAid or Whirlpool.

Garbage
I spent $129.00 to buy a Kitchenaide 7 quart slow cooker, the one with a removable crock bowl. The first time I used it, the crock insert cracked. It cracked while "inside" the heating unit. I contacted Kitchenaide and they sent me a new crock insert. I used the new insert even more carefully, started the cooking process on LOW heat thinking a slow heat up might prevent it from cracking. NOPE! Again, the crock bowl cracked. I contacted Kitchenaide a 2d time and again, they sent me a new crock bowl. Guess what, that one cracked too! The inserts are made in Mexico. Kitchenaide probably paid 50 cents a piece to have Mexico make the crock bowls, and then they turn around and sell them to Americans for $129.00!!! This would, more likely than not, NEVER been an issue if Kitchenaide had manufactured the crock bowls in the U.S. When are companies in the U.S. going to realize that sending U.S. jobs to third-world countries means you have NO control over quality? SHAME ON KITCHENAIDE FOR SENDING U.S. JOBS TO FOREIGNERS AND, FURTHER, FOR BRINGING THAT CRAP BACK INTO THE U.S. TO SELL IT TO UNSUSPECTING AMERICANS.

Poor service
A&E is actually Sears. Sears has poor customer service, so its no surprise A&E is poor also.

My first appointment was for 8-12. They showed up at 3:30.

My second appointment was from 8-12. Called the day before and was told I was the first appointment of the day. By 12:30 the day of the appointment, no call/no show.

I cancelled the appointment and will go with a local guy.

Dont buy from Sears. And dont use Sears or A&E for repairs.

Oven failure
I have a Kitchenaid wall oven less than 2 years old that has failed to work after a cleaning cycle. I have read several complaints about this, repairs will be the Thermal Fuse or Control pannel, caused from overheating during the cleaning process, Kitchenaid replies that is it not a defect.???
