************************************************************************************************
I came to Koon’s in good faith to purchase a car because as a buyer I wanted a clean, accident free, good, reliable, reasonable, honest transaction from a well know dealer with a good reputation. I am writing to notify you of the ongoing problems I have been having with my 2007, Toyota, Avalon that was purchased from Koons Used Car Outlet in baltimore, Md on Belair Rd.

Although, this 2007, Toyota Avalon was not my first choice, I purchased my car from Koon’s Used Car Outlet on 6/25/2009 approximately a month ago for $23, 090.00 which, includes a $599.00 guaranteed auto protection program. My down payment was to be $1, 500.00. I Gave them $750.00 and for the rest they made me sign a holdchek agreement that was not listed in the Retail Sales Agreement( I found out that this was illegal) for the other half. This car became a consideration because of the in-dash Navigation System and at the time of purchase I was ensured that the Navigation System was in working order and the disc for the system was on order already. I was also given a Carfax report and was told that the car was free from any accidents. I said to the sales person ”oh good a clean report- no accidents right and the sales person said that’s right no accidents and it’s a Toyota it will last forever they are good cars” She also said “ that your not gonna have to worry about this car they are made well”. I was even told that their list price was slightly less of what Kelly Blue Book valued it at approx $23, 000.00. Basically, I was told that I was getting a great value for the cost of the vehicle.

It took 5 navigation disc tries before they finally got the right one and it took over a month to get it but, that's not the worst thing that happen while dealing with this dealership! It takes gas to keep riding back and forth from my home for this and I wanted to get a full tank of gas as reimbursement because this has been wasting my time and gas. Berni my sales person gave me $20.00 from her pocket to put gas in my car. It took $23.00 to fill it up but I was okay with the $20.00 that she had given me as a good faith effort for all trouble. On 7/21/2009, I called and spoke to the Service Manager Mark. Mark told me that he personally ordered the Navigation disc from Toyota himself and it could take up to 6 weeks before the disc arrived. Unhappy because I didn’t get the “WOW” feeling that Krystal Koon’s said I would get from there advertised commercial and I told him that I have a bigger issue that just came to light with this car. I told Mark that I heard a strange ticking from my car engine on my way home from work 12:30am 7/21/2009 and in the morning of 7/21/2009 around 11am, I checked the oil before starting the car and found that the dipstick was bear. Baffled and obviously upset finding no oil in the car I called Koon’s and informed them of this. I asked Mark to explain to me why there was no oil in this car and asked him of the practice of checking out cars before listing them for sale on their lot. He then proceeded to tell me that they do a 126-point inspection and the oil was changed by them before the sale. He told me to bring in the receipt for the oil that I had to purchased for the car and they will look at the car to see what the problem was (he did offered what I felt to be as a unsympathetic “all I can say is sorry”). Now feeling that I have been sold a $23, 000.00 “lemon” didn’t feel comfortable with returning and getting honest and corrected service your dealership. Not driving the car for several days and searching for a service auto shop that I could take the car to be looked over, mother nature struck with a harsh storm over Owings Mills where I live. On Sunday 7/26/2009 a major storm caused unrelated damage to the vehicle and is now at the body shop getting body repair.

As of 8/4/2009 I was completely and utterly decussated with the Koon’s Used Car Auto Outlet. My reasons are as follows: My claims adjuster from Nationwide Insurance called today and informed me that he thought that I should know that this car has had major repairs practically all over it. The adjustor went on to say that he was called back to the body shop because after removing the bumper (that was glued on) it would not and could not be re-installed on the car and there was rust forming (who ever did the work didn’t do the work properly). The body shop, Heritage Collision Center rep reveled to him that during the process they discovered that this car has had body work done on practically every part of it. He said that obvious repairs should have been disclosed when the vehicle was inspected. I went to heritage and talked to th rep myself and he went over the entire car with me showing me all of the defects which indicate collision repair while the car was dusty (not clean and shinny like the displays at the dealership). The rep then went on to tell me the horrible news that this car has had major body work and many repairs to it all over. When removing the bumper they found glue holding it up and now it has rust. He used the terms for the paint as : Fish eyes in the paint, dirt in the paint, and dull spots, lines, replaced door skins, parts not lining up, color difference in paint, the list goes on and on and on. The body shop and claims adjuster both have prepared a detailed report of all the prior damages that are not related to the tree damage along with proof pictures of all undisclosed damage that a professional car dealer would recognize. They should not be able to get away with selling cars that have prior damage and not tell the buyer still making them pay a higher price for a damaged car and they should not be using hold check agreements because they are illegal!! I plan on filing complaints to BBB and Maryland Consumer Protection and getting a Dealer Fraud Lawyer!

Wish me luck !
