Kramer Tire Reviews

Price Gouging
Company is marking up parts over 100% and gouging customers.

Case in point: 1990 F-350 Drag Link, available retail prices $25 -$85 via advance auto, autozone, napa, ebay, etc. Top of the line MOOG part was $85. Part cost at the Ford Dealership was $90.01

Kramer charged me $155.75 --- OUTRAGEOUS

Beware and AVOID these Kramer Tire ripoff artists.

Don't believe false ad
I bought tires from kramer tire in june on my new good year credit card. the advertizment said 0% intrest for 6 months when you use the card. i recived my first statement showing intrest, so i called about it. i was told nothing could be done about the promotion and i would continue to pay the intrest.

in five mounths of having the card i have made calls to them on five occasions to deal with some sort of mistake on my account. the customer service was poor. all i have been told was there was nothing they could do, and sorry for the inconvenience.

i will never buy or recomend good year for anything again!

Stay away
Warning ladies.I go to Kramer Nimmo once a month to have the air checked in my tires. I live close by and they have always been so friendly. So I stop in there one day and was greeted by this older bald small framed white man, I think his name was Mike or something like that.He was so friendly and energetic and promptly put air in mytires. While I'm sitting there I notice so many new faces in the shop, I've never seen before, including the man airing my tires, which seems strange. After my tires were inflated I asked the man if I owed him anything, like I always do.And to my surprise he replied maybe we can take it out on trade a little later, I've got the right tool for the job if you know what I mean.I was so in shock I did'nt know what to do, I just got the heck out of there.Ladies beware, stay away from this old *** ***!!!

Shady business
I have used Kramer tire for state inspections for several years now with no problems, until this morning. We took my wife's Expedition in for a routine inspection at 7:30 a.m. (when they open). About an hour later they called back and said that we had a tag light out (which I knew and expected) and said that our battery hold down bolt was missing.

Now that might not sound fishy to you, but as Paul Harvey says here's "the rest of the story". I have worked on many cars for many, many years. I've done complete engine swaps, control arms, ball joints, installed clutches, etc. In short I know my way around a vehicle. I have never, ever seen a battery hold down bolt come loose. I know there's a first time for everything, but I am throwing the BS flag on Kramer tire on Military highway in Norfolk. I personally installed the battery in that vehicle and true to my habit it was well tightened down.

The bolt was not stripped or broken, nor was it loose enough to have vibrated out. I hate to label a person or business as shady unless it's beyond the shadow of a doubt and in my opinion they earned it. I don't know if the battery hold down fairy showed up and repo'd my hold down bolt or if the economy sucking so badly has driven people to do desperate things, but one thing is for sure, they will not be touching anything I own in the future. Furthermore, I have two degrees in business and understand the need to make a profit and overhead costs, but it chaps my posterior to be charged $20 for a $5 part and then be charged and additional $10 to install said part. In the state inspection racket Kramer has fallen to just above Pep Boys on my roster of companies who operate in an unacceptable manner.

Don't use them
This place is awful! This week I sent my 18yr old to have his first car inspected. This was my sons first time to deal with any type of car repair, and I am trying to teach him responsibility in proper car maintenance. I thought a simple inspection would be a great place to start. Well, since he is still a senior in high school he does not have access to his cell phone while in class. Kramer decided to leave him 3 messages - the last of which was made by a manager who is extremely rude! - demanding that he call them back because the car failed the inspection. They told him he needed a new air filter, had a nail in his tire, and needed a new front tire. Of course, all this they could fix for several hundred dollars. Well, we live in an area where emissions are not tested, so why check the air filter? And I recently used this location to fix a nail in my tire and they charged me $15. Very reasonable I thought! Since he may in deed need a new tire, we are lucky that it is a small car and only uses a 14" tire. The most expensive new one I have found so far is $65. So, $65 for the tire, $15 for the tire patch, $16 for state inspection and lets be generous and say $25 for the air filter. All told, $121. So how do you get several hundred out of this? According to their web site, tire installation is around $15 and they are not allowed to charge labor for a state inspection. This place is into total price gouging!

Anyway, my son left school immediately after he was released and when he showed up at Kramer he got scolded by the manager for not calling them back. The manager did not even let him attempt to explain why he couldn't call! We decided to bring the car home as this is another opportunity for me to teach him how to change the air filter and the two tires. When he went to get into the car, the drivers side door handle was broke. Neither the counter help or manager would do anything other than say, well it is cheapely made! What a crock! We dropped off a car in need of a state inspection. Now, because of the door issue, my son has to get into the passenger side and crawl over to the drivers side. A new door handle for his model car ranges from $75 to $130, depending on where exactly it broke.

I cannot urge you strongly enough to avoid this place. They are extremely overpriced and do not have one ounce of decent customer service.
