My husband and I have medical insurance which we buy through our own company. This insurance has been accepted and used by our Primary Care Physician, Dr. Kristine Burke.
We received a letter today informing us that she is starting a personalized care plan that will cost us $1, 500 per year in addition to the insurance we already have. This is payable directly to Dr. Burke. If we do not sign up and pay by October 10th then we have to find another doctor. We will still have to pay the co-pay and any other charges not covered by our own insurance. If we choose to go to another doctor, they offer to send our records on for a nominal fee, but they don't say what that fee is. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS! At a time when most of us can barely afford our own insurance we are being given an ultimatum to pay up or get kicked to the curb. It's hard enough to find doctor that not only accepts your insurance, but is also accepting new patients.
Where can I go to lodge a formal complaint against this outrageous form of blackmail? Who in Government is monitoring these unscrupulous tactics? Who can I talk to... I want this practice investigated now!
