I've complained about the Kroger security proceedures to anyone I could think of, but nothing had happened. Now that there was a double shooting at the corner of the 'SOUTHLAND SHOPPING CENTER" at the Liar Lounge, it made me want to remind the Kroger managers about security.
The original call, 4/27/10, went in to Kroger, where I spoke to the assistant manager, in regards to black college kids "hanging out" and playing, if not fighting between the entrance and the exit of the store. I have noticed this many times, despite the "no soliciting laws on the Toledo Revised codes and along with Ohio's. I told the short, female, long haired, Hispanic police officer, who did nothing, while being employed by Kroger, though the city's "off duty" program. "Emma, " from what I was told, should not have went near the bank, when I complained. She should have went outside. When she is in uniform, on or off duty, she has expectations to do her job, when there is a problem mentioned to her. In this case, I told her that there was horseplay outside, hence "soliciting."
Later on, I find that UNIFORMED Kroger employees, such as a white teen male, with cornrows (who acted ghetto) and a black teen co-worker were kidding around and smoking just outside of the entrance doors. THIS IS NOT ONLY RUDE TO DO, BUT IS A SMOKING HAZARD FOR THOSE WHO ARE ILL, HAVE ASTHMA, OR ALLERGIC TO THE SMOKE. I also think that the "smell of poverty" is so attractive to upscale custmers, for a store that has upscale prices. Maybe I'd expect this at "SAVE-A-LOT." I would not expect this at at places like Walt Churchills or certainly not Kroger.
On another occasion, which was also mentioned to the Assistant Manager, some "kids" were loitering, which made me go directly to Wal*Mart, skipping Kroger. When I skipped this store, I noticed an officer BS'ing with the kids, from the posture. The officer had the typical black female - laughter, kidding around posture.
After compaining to Kroger (419-382-0792), Call City Hall (419-936-2020), Toledo Police Dept. (419-245-3340), etc., the problem still persisted. Now there was a shooting at the shopping center.
Now we know that South Toledo is getting more welfare clients, near the store... however, there is no excuse for bad security or even having to bear the "smell of Poverty" (AKA cigarettes, swisher sweets, pipe, or Pot smoke). There is no excuse and I along with others are no longer attracted to Kroger, overall, no matter the location.
Kroger Columbus needs to tackle this store, since they (Kroger Company) manage this store. If Kroger Columbus does not step in, Kroger Cinci (headquarters) needs to get ahold of this, or just close the store, which is preferable.
The above actions by loiterers and employees attracts crime and the wrong element. Time to clean up... it's not a union issue, so don't go there!"
