I have been a customer of L L Bean for 30 years. Their products are usually a good value for the money and so I have been a loyal customer. I have indicated to LL Bean that I did not want to be sent any marketing materials by any company-I had opted out. This action was taken probably about a year ago or so. However, a few days ago I received a solicitation from Barclays Bank with the LL Bean logo on the envelope. So it was apparent that they sold my name to the Bank so it could solicit me for a credit card.
When I called customer service to complain I chatted with several individuals including a supervisor, however, they could not tell me what had happened. Several days later I got a call from the office of the president (which I had requested) and again they did not get it. I thought that they actually cared about their customers but I found out they did not. They did not apologize. They could not give any explanation why they sold my name to the Bank. They did not even say they were sorry for selling my name. I do not know what has happened to this company but LL BEAN NO LONGER CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I am only one customer but if they continue to treat customers this way they will go the way of Sears, Roebuck and Co.
