Fraud, fraud, fraud
About a year ago i walked into LA Fitness, wanted to get a feel for what the gym was like, but was unable to walk out, because the *** sales reps kept persuading to sign up and wouldnt let me walk out, i told them i would think about it..but no way out, finally had to swear to one of the reps to f**k off... unbelievable.. I guess thats what you get when your dealing with a bunch of illegal wetbacks..Consumers beware they will rip you off... canceling is no easy task either goodluck...work out at home you will be much more happier.

Awful company
I had been with LA fitness for over a year. I had just renewed my credit card which I authorized LA fitness to charge. Before the LA fitness charge is posted to my new card, I went in to the LA fitness staff and told them I am using a new card so they can charge the cost to new card, and they said it is OK, nothing more nothing less. However, When I get my card bill today, they had posted a charge of extra $5 on my card. I called LA fitness and they have this REALLY Long Hold for over 20 minutes. Then the representative told me it is my responsibility to make sure my card information is current. I told her I did. She said the charge is just because they put on me for not able to give them the update quick enough. this is *** bullshit. I told them more then a week ahead, they either did not update their system on time or they just simply ignored my require until the deny of charge came in. Either way, it is not my problem they been denied charge. Even if it is, what can do they is simply give me a $5 credit to keep me happy, instead, they blamed me for all fault and just keep talking to argue with me. So much so for customer service. Then I told the rep. that I am going to travel for a month out of the country, so I need to freeze my account for a month. However, she said the fee to freeze is $25 rather then the $10 which was on my contract. When I asked her why, she said that they have changed contract, but they change the contract without notice. I have never get any notice and from them. So whatever you signed with them they can change any time they want without notice the consumer. What tyep of *** contract this is? I am really pissed and I want to see if there is lawyer there willing to do a classic action against them on this silly contract.
I am going to terminate my membership. They just do not care customer at all. Once they get you singed in, basically they say they can change contract without notice you, so why bother sign the contract? it is just whatever they say and whatever they charge you. So be aware of the SCUM like LA fitness. If they are so good for let $5 to offend a customer, you can see how much they care you as a member.

Scam
LA Fitness has two ongoing scams which everyone should know about. The first one is when signing up for the contract, please make sure that they put on the contract for all LA Fitness locations. The rep gave me a copy unsigned showing all locations, but had me sign one that stated single membership. I missed it because I read the one that stated all LA Fitness locations.
The second scam is when canceling. First of all you can only cancel by mailing a letter in. If you do not send the cancellation certified mail, LA Fitness WILL NOT cancel your membership and will continuously charge you until you do send one certified. They will state that they never received the letter (even though I sent two letters) and will not credit back the extra months that they charged you even though you paid first and last month when you started the contract.
When it comes to billing, charge issues, and cancellation, this is the worst place ever.

impossible to cancel contract
I was e-mailed about Lafitness and I e-mailed back that I wanted to cancel my membership and thought everything was in order. Since then I have received a phone call about payment and reiterated that I had cancelled the membership. They stated I had to go to the gym to cancel. I went to the gym 9-30-08 and they stated I could not cancel at the gym I had to get a form and mail it in and then it would take another 30 days to be effective. That is very irritating. I have not been able to use the gym due to injuries and after therapy I am still unable to. I am cancelling and do ot intend to pay any money for something I am unable to use and have cancelled. Thanks. Renae

Awful service
Stay away from LaFitness, its a scam. They are too busy building other clubs to keep their existing facilities functioning and clean. As for trying to cancel membership, joining was easy just swipe your credit card and your in. To get out however its an completely different story... Got to your local club, get a printed statement, post it to their HQ, and have the privilege of paying another months dues. While at the same time suffering their horrid customer services. The last service agent that I spoke to accused me of personally attacking her by saying LAFITNESS ***. Well it does...

Scam and cheating
I concern with a day care at la fitness in puyallup, wa. During the busy schedule it's so many kids there and only two person working, one for the reception and one in charge to watching the kids, what i saw it's not safe for the kids especially a baby, toddler mixed together in one room. They need extra person for the safetyness, they can't handle a lot of kids only two person what happen if the kid got hurts? Are they responsible for that?? When i tried asking the front desk regarding the daycare the answer wasn't i expecting for.

Beware
They say it not a CONTRACT but an AGREEMENT, but that's just their term for CONTRACT!
On 03/31/08, I signed an agreement with Joe T. for LAFITNESS for personal training. I had said that I do not want to be in any contracts and that's why I'm not interested in Bally's. He said it is NOT a contract but an agreement and that you can cancel it anytime. I spoke with a late 20's white male (wearing white polo shirt) on 06/25/08 and told him I need to cancel. He asked for my information and typed something on the computer and said, "It has been cancelled and you won't be billed anymore." I found on 7/28/08 and 8/28/08, I was billed once more. On 9/1/08, I spoke with Tamara and Jimmy from Alsip, IL location, Kellyn from Corporate, and Joe T from the Lansing, IL location and they said it will be cancelled when 1 year is up. They said the only terms to cancel the agreement was 1.) Have a note from doctor saying that you can't ever work out in your life 2.) Find someone (friend or family) to transfer your contract to 3.) Pay 50% of the remaining of your contract. I looked the checklist provided on day 1 and it said " I may voluntarily cancel my agreement at anytime during the initial term by providing written notice of cancellation 30 days prior to my next scheduled payment and paying a termination fee equal to 50% of my remaining balance at the time of notice." I'm paying $320/mo so I thought I would only pay $160 for 50%, but they meant 50% of the entire remaining contract. This was not clear and explained correctly to me initially. My father was there at the time of signing and he understood it the same way. They're saying it's not a contract but an agreement. But there are only 3 reasons which you can get out of the agreement which was not clear.

Misrepresentation
I paid first and last month fees. When I tried to terminate my membership, they told me the "last month" that I paid was really another fee and that I owed for the last month. I refused to pay it so they would not let me use the facilities for the last month.

Overcharges
LA Fitness is a horrible company!! I had stopped regularly going to LA Fitness for about a year because I was seeing a personal trainer at a private gym. I continued to stay a members just in case i decided to pop in, which very rarely happend. I received a phone call from Joseph Perez from their corporate office informing me that my credit card had been expired at I was several months past due. He told me that I was paying for mine and my ex-boyfriends account. I told him I was only responsible for mine and that I was no longer with myt boyfriend. He said that was fine and would charge me for just my account. I said I would pay that and wanted my account frozen. He told me to go ahead and give him a check over the phone and to call back two days later to have my account frozen. I called back and he said it would cost $25.00 to have my account frozen and I went ahead and paid the amount. I reviewed my statement online and had found that they had charged $113.32 twice on July 23, $25.00 on the July 24, and then $29.44 twice on July 28. I called Mr. Perez and told him about the overcharges and he gave me another number where they would help me. I called and spoke to another lady who I failed to get her name. I told her about the overcharges and she said she would have to speak to Mr. Perez and would call me back. Several days passed and my account showed no refunds. I called Mr. Perez about 6 times in the span of 2 weeks, I've left messges and he has not returned any of my calls. I finally reached a point where I was going to try and speak to someone else. You have to wonder when a companies website does not provide the number to their head office. I tried another number to their Irvine location where I had to explain my situation again. She gave me the number to "Corporate" which was 1-888-889-0984. I waited over 15 mins to actually speak to someone. She was completely rude and when I kept asking for her name she would say, "Let me review your account first." She finally told me her name was Jill, she said give her a second to review it then hung-up on me. I called back again, and waited again, and finally spoke to Alisha Lovato who was a lot more polite. I explained the situation again and of course she said she would try to fix it and call me back in two days...of course. I told her that I wanted to cancel my account as well cause I didn't want to have anything to do with LA Fitness after this. She did say that she would atleast refund me the $25 dollars to freeze my accout since I wasn't going to be freezing it. The funny thing was I had asked Joseph to cancel it first, and he had said that there was a cancelation fee, but Alisha said it would not cost me anything to cancel my account. Weird. Ahhhh now I can only sit and wait to see if she will acutally call me back.
