On 2/17/11, I was having s/s of my fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I had to get to the post office before 5pm to pick up medication that had been shipped from my pharmacy an hour away. Due to feeling ill, post office soon to close and I could not find parking, I parked in the red zone outside the post office with my hazard lights on. I thought I'd be out quickly, felt feverish and wanted to get my medication and go home and get in bed. I did receive a ticket for my poor decision to park in the red zone. I paid this ticket. The ticket was put on my car with a time of 4:29 pm and a fee of $88.00. The post office was unable to locate my package and said to phone to the main van nuys post office on Gloria st to speak with Gabriel the supervisor. I had to do this prior to 5pm. I got into car and drove around the corner to use my cell phone. I pulled over due to being against the law to talk and drive. While being on hold, a parking ticket man came up to my car and said I could not park there and to please go around the next corner where I could park. I said thank-you and did this. I had to hang up when I was on hold with the post office in order to show respect to the parking ticket man and lost my place on the phone. I then was able to speak to the supervisor who stated my package was indeed where I just was at the post office on 6200 van nuys blvd. He said to phone him tomorrow and he would personally call them, since they gave me wrong information. I ended up sick the next day and unable to go to work. I went to the MD on 2/18 and was quite ill and ordered to stay home with a return date of 3/7/11. I have a copy of doctor's note. I then received in the mail another ticket issued on 2/17/11 at 4:42 pm . The ticket came in the form of an e-ticket due to the parking man was physically unable to place the ticket on my car. The ticket was for parking in the grid lock zone, where this officer had asked me to park around the corner. The ccv # 40202[d] was the listed reason as to why I was not given a ticket by the officer. This is untrue due to the officer never gave me a ticket. I assume this was the same parking man who left the ticket on my car at 4:29pm on 2/17/11. This was all a series of events that led to 2 parking tickets. The first was fair because I was parked in the red and in the post office. I did not contest, explain, I just complied and paid. Yet the 2nd was not true and the parking man was able to issue me a ticket, yet did not and then claims, I AND MY CAR WERE PSYCHICALLY NOT ABLE TO BE HANDED OR PUT THIS TICKET ON MY CAR. I had phoned the contest # and was unprepared for I did not know the person I was telling my story to was my first and only chance to contest the ticket by a phone recording. I did not have the ccv#40202[d], to explain this made no sense. The man on the phone told me I'd get a letter by mail if this were to be dismissed or not. I knew it would not because I was not prepared, had I known or been explained this was my 1 and only chance to contest this ticket, to have all proof available, I would think the outcome may have been different. I have written per e-mail many letters but the time frame is past due even though I made my contest in the given time period. I was home very ill, not being paid from work and just wanted to get better. I think that 2 tickets being less then 20 minutes apart in 1 day is quite unusual. I would like for a judge to hear me, not one who is making a ticket quote that has to be a certain per month. Now this ticket which was to start $158.00 has no gone to $365.00 and in delinquent status. A hold was put on my car registration, thank god I had paid it when due in 3/11. I can't get anyone to listen to me and funds have been low. I asked if I could make payments and the woman over the phone said yes, but when attempted to make a small good faith payment until, this could be rectified, the site only lets me make the whole amount due. This has become so big. It started with the post office and feeling ill, which resulted in 2 tickets in less then 20 minutes. I can't afford $365 and feel it is not fair. I really feel I was not given a fair chance. I'm not a criminal and pay any parking tickets I get. I'm going through a separation from an abusive husband and this is making me very anxious. I don't know what to do? Do you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Plus # 1 my ticket was based on a code that is not true, this parking man lied and did a sneaky thing by stating he could not physically put a ticket on my car, yet he spoke to me to tell me to make my call around the corner. My citation number is 208799855. issued on2/17/11 on 14328 victory blvd which is around the corner from the post office. Thank-you for your time and concern!
