I am ashamed of the current level of hostility aimed at England by my fellow Scots and was even more annoyed when i went into my local betting shop to place a bet and seen that the staff were decorating the shop with American flags in anticipation of the World Cup match between England and USA. I explained to the manager of the store that this type of anti-English sentiment shows our country in an extremely poor light. I am a proud Scotsman and i am also proud to be British and find it hard to excuse my fellow countrymen when they would rather support Argentina a nation we have engaged in military conflict with within living memory of most of our population. In which many Scottish servicemen were killed or injured fighting side by side our other British countrymen.
Needless to say i got nowhere with my discussion with the store manager. It is truly a sad time for Scotland when we as a nation have become more anti-English than Pro Scotland. Although in my opinion Scotland has a lot to be proud of. I suppose this kind of feeling is inevitable when it is encouraged by our First Minister and his gang in any other format this kind of attitude would be described by the Scottish media and Government as at best distasteful and at worst openly bigoted. I will not support a foreign sovereign nation above any of our fellow British nations and as England is Britain's only representative in the world cup I will be supporting them.
