I'm not even sure where to begin with this complaint. In October 2008 I purchased a Graco Lauren 4-in-1 Convertible Crib, manufactured by LaJobi Industries, for my soon-to-arrive daughter.

The crib functioned fine for the first 5 months, but during those months the dropside rail was always in the "low" position because my daughter wasn't climbing and provided me easy access to her. When I went to put the droprail up for the first time I noted that it took quite an effort and didn't lock on the right side. As soon as so much as a fingertip was placed on top the entire right side fell resulting in a diagonal droprail.

After taking the crib apart and reassembling with no positive result I contacted LaJobi and was told that aside from sending a new leg there wasn't anything that they could do or recommend. I received the new leg, took the crib apart and reassembled again, and found myself with the same result.

I've continuously contacted them, especially after seeing that the new Lauren cribs have a stationery rail, but again I was offered little help. I wasn't surprised when the company recalled ALL of these cribs on 04/29/2010 and are now offering a retrofit kit. Quite personally, I'd like a new crib altogether. I retrofitted the crib myself months ago by screwing the right side into place so it couldn't move.

Graco is a huge company and it's disheartening that it took them this long to realize what a safety hazard these cribs are!
