In the last 6.5 weeks my apartment has been flooded twice. 1) One week prior to Thanksgiving a hot water heater explodes and ended up flooding my closet and 2/3 of my bedroom. At 12 midnight I notified maintenance man and he claimed nothing was wrong. He claimed it was water from snow melting on roof and it could not be resolved till the following day. 2am I notified him that the water was coming in too fast and steady rate for it to be snow related. On top of that it was too cold of temperature for the snow to be melting. Still nothing was done. I am then forced to extract water from carpet because I had already washed 10 loads of laundry from soaking up water with blankets, sheets, etc. I did this all night long. In a.m. I am then notified by maintenance man that a person's hot water heater exploed and chose my apartment to drain into. I was not reimbursed for the water use related to laundry nor was I reimbursed for utilities/electricity use. 2) 12/9/09 I was contacted @ 4pm on phone that a water pipe broke and my apartment was once again under water. They told me a carpet man would be here in 2 hours. The carpet man did not do squat!!! I still had to rent a carpet cleaner and clean up where the carpet man failed. No one cleaned up the water surrounding the lamp in the ceiling. No one bothered to remove the water surrounding electric hot water heater thus placing me in electrical danger. No one bothered to compensate me for the cleaning that I had to perform in addition to the 3 loads of laundry from soaking up excess water. At 8:30 pm I called the maintenance man's cell phone and left a voice mail warning him of the ceiling light and the appearance of being ready to fall out of ceiling. No reply was received. i nogividc ghd business office at 11am and still no one has shown up yet out of any concern for my well being.
First of all the apartment complex should have never been opened for business until proper insulation had been installed to prevent water pipes from freezing in winter season. Second, There should have been some form of barrier(s) set in place to prevent leakage of water from one apartment into another. BUT, NO, NO ONE CONSIDERS THE CONSUMER AND THEIR BELONGINGS THAT ARE BEING DESTROYED. ALL THE MANAGEMENT PEOPLE WANT IS THE MONEY FOR THE SPACE. THIS IS WRONG!!!
