Lamson Lied promising externships during the 13 month program. Once you are in the program you find out the wait for externships is being pushed out longer (6 months etc.)
Program was a joke..not taken seriously
Teachers/Instructors were ex-Lamson students who could not get jobs at real hospitals.
Inconsistant Instructors: One Instructor trains you on their way and the next Instructor tells you you are doing it wrong
Instructors humiliate students.
Teachers/Instructors gave test answers away to the students so they would pass the class no matter what. I have the test answers provided by the Instructors who were too busy telling us about getting boob-jobs, bar fights and doing time in tent city instead of instructing/teaching us.
Do not ask any questions because the Instructor will not be able to answer the questions
School Director, Dean, & Administrators unfair
Receptionists dodge phone calls and sends callers to voicemails that are never returned.
It is pretty bad when Hospitals will not take the FREE labor (the externships) in this economy.

I attended Lamson for 6 months of the Surgical Tech program and 3 months in I realized what a joke this school was. 2 of the 3 dummies were broken and the instrument trays were incomplete. My scrubs didn't even match. My instructor kept saying that everyting was a gray area. It is either sterile or non sterile! How does a gray area work? I wouldn't want them operating on me. I was so upset when i was told that there was a 9 month wait just to get to the extern site because they are so backed up. So that means 10 months of crappy schooling, plus another 9 month wait and then maybe I Could get an extern in the same city or I could be placed somewhere else in the state. They failed to mention that too. Amazing! I'm just hoping I can get reimbersed for my loans i had to take out.

Beware of Lamson College. They offer a surgical technologist program that they claim will take one year to complete. 10 months of classroom work and a 2 month 'externship' in a local hospital. Once this is completed, you are told you will be ready to seek employment in the surg tech field.

Because of this '12 month' program bait, the cost of this program is $25, 000.00 (Yes, twenty five thousand dollars), but as we were all told, we would be out in the field earning money after this great program.

Rumors began within the first 2-3 months of class. Externship positions were 'backed up' and 'some' were having to wait a 'few' months before being able to complete this program. No one from the staff/admin would address concerns, basically saying not to worry about it, they were working on the problem.

This 'problem' was never addressed internally obviously. There's a group of us who completed our classroom courses in June and have yet (it is mid-November now) to be placed in a local hospital... we have been out of the class room for 6 months now.

Parents budgets, student budgets and plans have all been put on hold while we wait for the school to find a hospital to place us. And, the school continues (!) to accept new students.

We don't know what to do, and know that we have been screwed, so this is a warning to anyone thinking of attending Lamson College (for anything!!), run, do not walk to another College. All Lamson wants is your money, they don't give a crap about what happens after that. If you have just started, get out now. Cut your losses.
