services not rendered
on March 18/ 09 i was in need of legal services to petition for my residency and i went to landey & associates to MR. Benjamine Landey for legal help. Mr. landey charged me a consulting fee of $300 and that was fine. Mr Landey agreed to take on my case because it was a simple marriage case and told me he will charge $2500 for entire process plus any additional filing fees. After agreeing to that i was given paperwork to fill out for my petition i was told it would be more helpful if i made a higher payment and he would give my case priority. I agreed to pay him $1500 to get started asap. I made several attempts to make appointment with Mr. Landey to submit my paperwork and drop of my file. Several times i waited in his office for several hours because he had forgotten our appointment. After finally submitting my paperwork, several weeks later i called to check the status and he was never in his office, or front desk told me he was at the hospital. I finally decided to go there personally to check the status and they had problems finding my paperwork. I was told once again to fill out all the necessary paperwork again! Getting a hold of MR. Landey was hard enough and my case had not even began and few months had already passed. I decided to seek a secondary lawyer, and my case is now finished and i recieved my residency in 4 months and i paid half of which MR. Landey charged. Today is sept 25, 2009 and i decided to go to MR. Landey once more to see bout my case and to settle up on what i had paid and ask for a refund since i did not recieve any service and only a one time consulting. To my surprise he had me wait for an hour and did not locate my file and said "i am in no position to give a refund, take it up with the state board, anything you have paid so far will not be refunded as it was payment for my time". I was rushed out and the door was opened for my saying i dont have time to discuss this matter. i believe i am obligated for my money back. i have no choice but to find other means to be treated fairly
