Confused over a true attorney January 2, 2010

harrassment

I received two messages on my answering machine in one day rudely telling me this was "the attorneys office and I need to call them today".
When I called 800-355-0123 & I asked who this was, what company, the woman would not give me any information but just transferred me to a very rude woman who still would not give me who she was or what co she is calling from. I googled the phone# while she was yelling at me to pay my bill and found many complaints about this co. Google it and you can read the many complaints yourself. She finally told me this is Laurence Hecker attorneys and he is a true attorney. I cannot find him on the New Jersey Bar website so I am filing a complaint with the Bar Assoc since this is false info I was given. She ended up hanging up on me since I told her I could not find complete info that this is a "true" attorney as she said.

Harsassment

This "lawfirm" (collection agency) continues to call my wife's family members in order to contact her. Even though they have our contact information and we have told them to not contact anyone but us. They told her grandmother that they found her number in the phone book, then when they called again they said my wife told them they could contact her grandmother. When her grandmother brought up the fact that they said they found her number in the phone book, they denied they said that and said they didn't have time to be looking numbers up in the phone book. They are very unprofessional, and try to intimidate you into paying a debt that in most cases is past the statute of limitations for forced payment. My suggestion, if they call you don't answer. If you answer, ask for them to contact you by certified mail only. Then send them that same request by certified mail. If they continue to contact you, file a lawsuit.
