To Whom It May Concern:
As consumers whom wish to protect the right of the people I hope to capture your attention and seek out your assistance in a personal dilemma I am having with a business owner of Pasadena, California. I would like to inform you of my dissatisfaction with a member of The State Bar of California attorney Ms. Rebecca Loo #232159 located at 305 South Hudson Avenue, 3rd Floor Pasadena, California 91101-2910. The seriousness of this matter is worth looking into and I would like to submit a request that a review into a complaint filed with the State Bar of California. After my follow up call with the State Bar of California today, I have been told due to high volume of complaints coming into the office the process with The State Bar of California could take at least 6-8 months for just a review. I hope that after reading a brief summary of my experience below a special interest into this issue is taken to assist in an effort to bring closure to the situation without any further legal action and or legal costs.
My complaint and concerns stem from the continual postponement and withholding of a final statement account to my fathers estate, excessive unnecessary legal fees, undisclosed copy of invoice of legal fees from attorney Ms. Loo, her unwillingness to communicate in a timely manner to the beneficiaries of the estate, and questionable actions related to a conflict of interest, and inappropriate conduct presented by Ms. Loo. I find Ms. Loo’s actions to be completely outrageous and incomprehensible. It appears that her constant actions are a deliberate attempt to purposely drive up attorney fees in this particular matter. To seek restitution and be forced to solve our problems in probate court should not be an alternative option if a Trust and Will was left by the deceased my father to prevent this from happening. In this case, Ms. Loo’s action and legal council to the trustee steers me in this direction and leaves me with no other alternative but to go to court or wait until she decides it time to finalize the estate. I find this difficult to believe and it saddens me to think that people can be easily taken advantage of during this time of grieving for their loss. Are we now living in a time were we need to question ones actions and hold people solely accountable to perform their legal and civil duties that require them to perform in their profession. I see more and more consumers being taken advantage of in the legal system especially in the current economy state that we live in today.
To solve the problem, I would like to seek out your assistance and request that further actions be taken: a review of complaint #09-18790 with the State Bar of California, a request be made to attorney Ms. Rebecca Loo asking her to submit to the beneficiaries a final statement of the estate (Its been over 18 months), an invoice of her attorney fees (never been disclosed), Ms. Rebecca Loo’s failure to communicate on a consistent basis leaves me concerned and her actions questionable when its taken her three months to resolve a MINOR discrepancy in balancing the amounts of the account as she has stated. She is treating this matter as though she intends to prolong her legal services to drive up legal fees and withhold the final execution of the estate. Although, this is not a probate case, but the length of time Ms. Loo has taken which is over 18 months is the limited time it takes the probate court to process an estate of this size. We have been in the final stages of the process for three months and her refusal to reconcile or communicate on a consistent basis with the beneficiaries regarding this matter is creating unnecessary friction and frustration on top of excessive legal fees.
I look forward to your reply and resolution of my complaint and will allow two weeks before referring it to the appropriate government and consumer agencies. If you need to contact me for further questions, I can be reached at my daytime telephone number 714-615-8878. Additional information of time line of events and all correspondence between parties can be supplied upon request.
I trust that you can support and assist in this matter. Thank you in advance for your participation and cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
Isabel Beatty
