Leisure Auto Sales – Faulty cars, faulty after sales service!!!

I purchased a Peugeot 206 cc from Leisure Auto Sales cnr Jan Smuts and Republic in Randburg in December 2009, within the first week the car had problems.

Leisure Auto took the car and fixed the first issue but could not fix the airbag fault as it could only be fixed by a Peugeot service centre. They took the car in to fix the airbag fault and gave it back to us a day later. Everything was fine but after a week the airbag fault was back plus the car now cut out from time to time when in 5th gear, when indicating and when turning on the brights.

My girlfriend was driving the car on a highway when the car cut out, she pushed brakes and hit her head and broke the mirror in the over head flap. I called Andre the salesman who sold me the car and who was assisting with the faults to let him know what happened. He could not talk to me he said he was too “busy” and asked me to call back later. I had meetings later in the day and therefore called the dealership directly to let them know what happened. I spoke to a lady and told her what happened, she said I could bring the car in as soon as possible. I confirmed which day I would be in and I also mailed them on their website informing them of what happened and when I would be bringing the car in.

When I arrived at the dealership I was told that they will not be assisting me anymore, they could not even call me to let me know they would not assist me prior to me bringing in the car and wasting my time. I was told that the car is costing them too much to fix all the time and that “we” must be doing something wrong to keep breaking the car (like driving it!!!). While I was trying to speak to Andre I was totally ignored as he took a call while I was trying to discuss the issue and he did not speak to me again. I was ignored by all the employees about 6 of them until I left.

I have seen and heard a lot of horror stories about the poor after sales service in the motor industry and now I am a victim. I will be sending my car in to Peugeot myself and expect a hefty bill which I will have to pay myself because I was sold a faulty car….
