THIS REPORT IS ALSO BEING SENT TO SEVERAL WEB SITES FOR CONSUMER COMPLAINTS INCLUDING THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU OF CANADA (BBB).
In late 2005 I purchased a 2005Jayco RLS 28 Trailer when the Leisure Days Alexandria operations were under the management of Steve Eastman. I was very satisfied with the servicing of my trailer for the following years.Family and friends who I had introduced to Leisure Days (LDA)during that time were equally satisfied.
WELL, SINCE THE NEW MANAGEMENT UNDER ONE DAVID NELSON, SERVICE HAS DETIORATED AND I'M SURE (LDA) BUSINESS WILL ALSO DETIORATE AS IT IS QUITE APPARENT FROM NELSON'S ATTITUDE THE CURRENT CONDITIONS AT THEIR PREMISES AND THEIR MEASURABLE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
AS LDA WERE NOT STORING TRAILERS LAST WINTER, ON APRIL 14, 2010, I BROUGHT MY TRAILER TO (LDA)FOR SERICE AND AFTER DISCUSSION WITH THEIR SALES MGR, MICHAEL GRAHAM WHO HAD ORIGINALLY SOLD ME THE TRAILER, I DECIDED TO LEAVE THE TRAILER FOR SALE AT THE GATED LDA SITE ACROSS THE ROAD FROM THEIR MAIN OFFICE AND SHOWROOM IN ALEXANDRIA, ONT.
MIKE GRAHAM HAD THEN PROMISED THAT MY TRAILER WOULD BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED OUTSIDE AND WITHIN DURING THE FIRST WEEK THE TRAILER WAS ON THEIR SUPPOSEDLY "SECURE" SITE OF USED TRAILERS "FOR SALE". IT WOULD BE FOR SALE AT MIKE GRAHAM'S RECOMENDATION FOR A REASONABLE $12, 000. I HAD LEFT THE KEYS WITH MIKE GRAHAM AND HE ASSURED ME THAT MY TRAILER WAS SAFE ON THEIR GATED SITE.
ON AT LEAST SIX (6) OCCASIONS DURING THE FOLLOWING SEVERAL MONTHS, I WAS ABLE TO ENTER THE OPEN GATED SITE AND ALSO ENTER MY TRAILER AS THE DOORS WERE LEFT UNLOCKED EVEN ONCE DURING THE NIGHTIME. ANYONE COULD OBVIOUSLY ALSO HAVE ACCESS AND ENTER MY TRAILER. NONE OF THE PROMISED CLEANING HAD EVER BEEN DONE AND MY TRAILER WAS EVEN LEFT UNLOCKED ONCE WHEN I VISITED DURING THE NIGHT. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MIKE GRAHAM HAD ASSURED ME THAT MY TRAILER WAS SAFE AND "OH YES IT WOULD BE THOROUGHLY CLEANED". THAT WAS THREE MONTHS LATER.
DURING THE WEEK OF JULY 19TH, DAVID NELSON CALLED ME TO INFORM ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO ACCEPT A SALE PRICE OF $ 10, 000 FOR MY TRAILER AND THERE WOULD BE UP TO $ 1, 000 OF SERVICE REPAIRS NEEDED. I REFUSED AND INFORMED HIM THAT I WOULD TAKE BACK MY TRAILER THAT WEEK-END.
ON SATURDAY, JULY 24TH, I WENT TO REMOVE THE TRAILER. WHILE IN THE TRAILER, I NOTICED THE KNOB FOR THE STOVE OVEN WAS MISSING AND WAS INFORMED BY SOMEONE IN THE SHOWROOM THAT THEIR PARTS PERSON "MAURICE" WOULD ARRANGE TO REPLACE THE KNOB. AS MAURICE WAS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE TIME, I LEFT WITH THE TRAILER BEHIND MY PICKUP.
WITHIN THREE WEEKS LATER, MY TRAILER WAS SOLD FOR MORE THAN $ 12, 000 FROM A "FOR SALE" SIGN PARKED AT THE SIDE OF MY DRIVEWAY IN HAWKESBURY, ONT.
BEFORE THE SALE, I HAD CALLED SEVERAL TIMES FOR DAVID NELSON AND MAURICE AT LDA REGARDING THE MISSING KNOB, HAVING LEFT MESSAGES TO CALL ME - THEY NEVER RESPONDED - REALLY A COMPLETE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE.
ONCE WHEN I STOPPED AT LDA, MAURICE, THE PARTS MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT ONLY DAVE NELSON COULD RESPOND ABOUT THE MISSING KNOB OR ANYTHING ELSE WHICH HAD OBVIOUSLY BEEN REMOVED WHILE ON THE LDA SUPPOSEDLY "SECURE" PREMISES.
I WAS CONTINUOUSLY REFERRED TO DAVID NELSON, THE G.MGR OF LEISURE DAYS ALEXANDRIA.
TO THIS DATE, SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 AFTER REPEATED MESSAGES LEFT FOR DAVID NELSON, HE HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK.
TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, THE BUYER OF MY TRAILER SEVERAL DAYS AFTER TAKING POSESSION CALLED ME QUITE UPSET TO INFORM ME THAT WHEN THEY TRIED TO LIGHT THE PROPANE STOVE (NOT THE OVEN) THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION ON THE STOVE CAUSING DAMAGES.
HE ALSO INFORMED ME THAT A TRAILER TECHNICIAN FROM ANOTHER LEISURE DAYS STORE TOLD HIM THAT THERE WERE FOR MORE THAN
$ 600 OF MISSING PARTS IN THE TRAILER.
DAVID NELSON AND LEISURE DAYS ALEXANDRIA ARE VERY UNRELIABLE - UNTRUSTWORTHY AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED - STAY AWAY FROM LEISURE DAYS ALEXANDRIA.
