Shoddy Construction
I closed on my new Lennar Townhome on 2/23/08. Agreed that a walk through was done prior to closing on the home and I did site a few things that need repaired. One thing was my main wall in my living room was severely bowed. There were a few holes in the sheetrock and a large nail sticking out of the handrail on the stairs. I have now been in my Lennar townhome for 1-1/2 years and my ceramic tile in my entry way has a crack running through the tiles, All of the rounded corners to the walls are splitting and I mean all of the rounded corners in the house, all of the fixtures in the bathrooms have fallen out of the walls because the screws did not hold and tore the sheetrock, The shower curtain rod in the upstairs bathroom will not stay up it falls and I put it up every single day, (not major but a hassle), a few months after I moved into the home, a leak developed in my front bedroom. I sent a work order for the roof to be repaired and the ceiling to be fixed. Now, hurricane Ike comes to Texas and guess what? Low and behold, the ceiling in the front bedroom caves in. Oh and it is right where the leak was the very first time. That is where it started.

Do you think this homebuilder is going to take responsibility for their shoddy homebuilding workmanship? Take a look on the internet. Their are thousands of complaints against this particular homebuilder even as far as California, Florida, and Texas.
Who is going to make this company correct these problems? I assure you that Lennar is not being held liable for these homes. If they were, Lennar would not be building these homes consistently with shoddy workmanship. I would say that someone needs to stand up for the consumer. I personally would like to file legal action against this home builder.

Prejudice
Rented townhouse from an owner of a newly built townhome subdivision built by Lennar Homes. Received called from landlord several days ago about Lennar Homes refusing to do any more business with him until landlord got rid of several owners/renters (as landlord owns several properities in subdivision) for various reasons, even though owners/renters have 12 months leases already in play. After speaking with other owners that are being evicted they are all minorities. One other renter whose being evicted states that she is being asked to leave because Lennar homes does not want the owner to rent to section 8 renters. Reason given for wanting me evicted is because Lennar states there have been 6 complaints from other owners in subdivison about too many people living here and complaints about the music coming from home is violating the noise ordinance. However, there are no townhomes attached to my home except the office to the subdivision. And that there are only me and my 3 children living in my home. I do, however, have a few visitors in my home currently due to a death in the family. I am not on section 8, so I feel that something had to conjured up to find a way to evict me. A lawyer has been contacted. I feel this is a direct attempt to out renters who are minorities.

Poor construction and warranty policy
We purchased a home that is just over 4 years old built by Patriot/Lennar Home Builders. Three wks. ago 4 shingles blew off the roof which caused a leak. We tried to get coverage from the warranty company Lennar provides with their homes but were told it was not a structural issue and we would have to handle it ourselves. We hired a very reputable roofer who after making the repair explained that it would happen again because the roof was poorly constructed from the beginning using plywood that was bulged and that caused the shingles to lift and then blow off. I then called the builder to tell them that the roof was incorrectly installed from the beginning it was an issue of poor quality control that needs to be repaired so we do not experience any further problems. They refuse to except responsibility and make it right, they will not return my emails and calls. Several other neighbors have also had problems getting this builder to stand behind their product when problems arose.

Disappointing story!
Lennar homes: I purchased a home my closing date was Aug 28 2006 In October the door bell rang and i was served papers that i was being sued by a drywall company who did work in my house in July. Bear in mind I didn't live in my home until aug 28. This contractor put a lien on my home and is suing me for $1300. I called lennar for 4 weeks finally they said it was all taken care of and not to worry about anything. Five months later I came home from work Monday and there is new papers sitting on my counter. Yes another law suit and I found out Lennar never got the lien off of my property. I have many disappointing lennar stories and encouraging people to find a different builder.
