Les Schwab Tire Centers Reviews

I will never buy tires from Les Schwab again
I will never buy tires from Les Schwab again. I continued to buy the same low profile tires because a Les Schwab sales person told me that I would have to buy new rims if I was wanted standard tires (not low profile). This is not true. Keeps me buying tires every 4-6 months. Flat after flat and warranty doesn’t count. The last time I got a flat on my way to work in tears because as a single mom could not afford new tires every 4-6 months they still never recommended that I switch to a regular tire.

They put on the crappiest brakes ever and charged enough for them
Don’t get ripped off at Les Schwab in South Jordan, they put on the crappiest brakes ever and charged enough for them! After continually having to go in and try to have them adjusted, we took the car somewhere else to find out they installed the most inferior brakes possible and charged a ton for them! My new teenage driver had to put his foot to the floor to stop and the stopping time was very long. Not what you want for your new driver! Don’t go there! They also lost a hubcap and the tire caps. The alignment was not correct either.

Liars, they are taking advantage of me
Les Schwab Tire Service of Grand Coulee charged me for service that is supposed to be free. I purchased snow tires and rims 3 years ago with the free seasonal change-over offer. This year, thinking it was just that, I had the tires changed over and they charged me $59.35 to do so. I was not even warned or advised when I left the car with them to have this done.

I feel that they are taking advantage of me and the locals by gouging us with fees added to what use to be courteous and free service. I am a victim of that.

Not honoring warranty
On 10-14-2005 we purcased 4 p195/60-15 87t z800ultra all season blackwalls. At the time we bought these tires our car had 43123 miles on it. thes tires had a 80000 mile warranty, we now have 103826 miles on this car, that is a totale of 60703 miles. when I took the car into a locale les schwab tire center to get them replaced i was told that they could not honor the warranty because these tires were no longer made. I thougt your motto read "if we cant warranty then we wont sell it". with as many tires as we have purchased at les schwab's this is the frist time I have ever atempted to use there warranty, we will take care of the price adjustment once they had the tires on they would only repeat that as the tires were no longer made they could not honor the warranty. The warranty is from les schwab not the tire manufactor. some effert on les schwab's part to treat the costomer right would have gone a long way in removing the smell of this deal.

Upside down shock
I own a 1999 Ford Expedition and on Feb 2, 2007 Les Schwab on 3235 West 5400 South in Taylorsville, Utah replaced my rear brakes and rear shocks. On Feb 9, 2011 I had my vehicle in for its semi annual maintenance checks and service. The mechanic at that shop informed that the passenger rear shock was upside down. He also told me the last mechanic who replaced my rear brakes last left on the brake line hose clamp.

I had the repair shop take pictures of the mistakes so I could show them to Les Schwab, when I arrived at Les Schwab I was greeted by an employee, who asked, “can I help you?” I said, “yes, I have a problem”, and showed him the pictures. I then told him the story about the other shop and another employee came over and looked at the pictures. He told me, some shocks are installed in that position and that it may look upside down, but in fact could have been installed the right way. I kind of looked at him with a bewildered look on my face. I’m thinking, “wow this guy thinks I’m an ***.”

When I asked about the brake clamp, the second employee asked if anything on the truck was damaged because of the clamp, nothing was. But I told him, that isn’t what concerns me. I was more concerned that because brakes are one of the MOST important safety device on the vehicle, I was worried about the times I transported my family and what would of happened if something bad occurred and me and my family were injured. He said nothing did, so it’s not that big of a deal. WELL I THINK IS IS A BIG DEAL!! Come on you can’t tell me my family isn’t a big deal.

I can think of at least twice over the last 4 years, I had gone to Les Schwab about the rear of my truck rocking too much when I go over bumps, but both times, and nothing was done. I was told everything was fine. That is how trucks are supposed to ride. I also remember that when I did have the shocks replaced, I had to take the truck back the next day because when I went over bumps it would hit hard and there was not cushion. Well, they forgot to turn the air compressor for the airbags back on after they replaced the shocks.

Another employee asked me what I wanted, I was dumbfounded at this question, because honestly I was so upset, I didn’t know what I wanted. They ended up warranting the rear shocks and gave me two packages of the meat promotion they have going on.

I want to be reimbursed for the inconvenience this has caused me, I spent an hour in the shop having the rear shocks replaced.

Fired my daughter after haveing a baby
Les Schwab fired my daughter after giving birth to my grandson. She was told to be available 24/7. Its funny how the les schwab web site doesnt have a 'contact' us link, they are also not on twitter of facebook so a person could publicly comment on their conduct. They allowed her the legally required time off for maternity leave, but what company requires an employee to be available 24/7? Lastly it does seem like discrimination to me. she has worked there for years, and does have seniority over her co-workers, showing that she was singled out because she has a child, and/or at 8 months old she wants her or her husband to be home with the baby...too much to ask?

Bad customer service
In the past they did a good job aligning my Corvette so I went in to talk to them about tires for my Lexus. They said they couldn't get original tires but had some as good but cheaper ($80) with a 30 day return policy. I tried them for 3 days and they were awful, howling all the time on the road. I took them back and told them I should get the original tires somewhere else. They said they'd give me the Tire Rack price $143 each)on some tires that were quieter and better. I tried these for a week and they didn't howl but had a constant humming sound so I took them back.

The manager told me I could buy tires elsewhere and bring back the ones I had just bought or I could have them shipped to Les Schwab and they would put the new ones on. I called America's Tire Store but decided it would be easier for Les Schwab to do the work and had tires shipped to them. After they put them on, they charged me $170 ($42.50/tire) for mounting and balancing. They had only charged $12.50 when it was their tires! So I ended up having to pay an extra $120 because I didn't buy the tires from them. I could have saved that money if I had bought the original ones from America's Tire store...so it was basically a $120 ripoff.

The manager seemed like a nice guy but it's apparent that they decided to rip me off once they found out that I wasn't going to buy tires at their store. I brought this up to him and he agreed that he should have told me the price ahead of time and I could have saved the money by buying at America's Tire Store. This turned a decent experience into a bad one. The 30 day return policy sounds good until you have to pay a lot more for their services if you don't buy their tires---in this case over $120.

And they don't have very good tires either. I wanted quiet summer tires and they kept putting on All Season tires. I was later told that they couldn't get the original tires I wanted because they were on back order (though I got them from Tire Rack in 2 days) but I'd have waited if they had told me this in the first place. Obviously, they just wanted to sell me their brand of tire to make a higher profit. When this didn't happen, they just decided to charge me extra.

Poorly done battery installation
Marysville Washington Les Schwab has ruined me for ever to purchase anything further from this company ! I have done business with Les Schwab over the years having purchased tires, brakes, shock absorbers and now this battery .

I made an appointment with the Marysville Washington Les Schwab to have the battery replaced . I arrived before the due time and was told that it would be just a few minutes, this was important to me because I had a doctors appointment in a little over an hour . During the next hour and a half I would ask about the status of my vehicle about every half hour and be told that it was just about ready ( repeatedly told that it was just about ready ) .

Needless to say I missed my doctors appointment fortunate for me they did not charge me for the missed appointment and where able to reschedule the appointment for the next day .

But the real problem came when I got home and raised the hood to check the battery . These so called professionals had replaced the battery with one that was not a match to the one that was original equipment . They had to cut off the existing cables to replace the original connectors there by shortening the battery cables . Then replaced those connectors with larger connectors ( charging extra what to me seemed to be a high price for connectors ), there is no plastic cover for the positive battery terminal, and the negative cable was so short no that the cable pulled out because it had not been tightened down adequately and the battery soon went dead .

Fortunately I am mechanically inclined enough, have the right tools and a battery charger to were as I could get the battery recharged, positive terminal covered and reposition the battery in its cradle so that the short battery cables had adequate length .

I will never again purchase anything from Les Schwab .

Overpriced
Its Christmas eve. The 84 month batteries I paid way too much for 12 months ago left me stranded. Where are they when you need the emergency service they brag about? I am so ***! These people push the most expensive part on everyone. Claiming they are the very best. Well I have news. The are ***. I could have gone to Bi-mart and paid less than half of Les Schwabs price and probably have a better product. I believe Les would roll over in his grave if he knew what kind of *** these yay hoo's running his buisness are doing.
