Do Not Work For the Company
I have something to say about this company on both sides; as a former employee and as someone who feels for the contractors they hire.
To Any Prospective Employee (even Current Employees),
I hope you did some research for this company before deciding to work for them, one way or another. I truly hope that was how you found your way to this page. I saw this site and read the complaints of several former contractors talking about how they were never paid for their services. I believed that the stories on this board were only based on a small number of those who had been contracted by the company. Within a week of working for the company, certain things were starting to not make sense.
I noticed that several people were given new territories at random. Each territory covers hundreds of contractors and thousands of stores. It's pretty much impossible to find out everything that you need to know about every store and each company who services the store. Every time I had to contact a contractor about when they were planning on servicing their stores for the month, they always asked about the money. Every time I mentioned it to my bosses, they told me that I had to contact someone in accounting. Every time I tried to contact someone in accounting (which was several times per week), the phone would ring and ring and ring. I was told that the contractor would have to email the woman who handled payments in accounting. It got to a point where I sincerely started to feel guilty every time I relayed that information to the contractor because it felt like such a lie.
To Those of You Who Have Been Contracted to Do Work for This Company,
DON'T!! Read the other complaints about this company and their unwillingness to pay. There were people that I spoke to on the phone who had not been paid in months. A receptionist that worked for the company I was working with hadn't been paid because Level 1 had not held up their end of the deal. By working with this company, you stand the chance of losing thousands of dollars from doing work you will NEVER be paid for. Do you really want to put yourself and your staff through that? No. Find a better company to get work for. Please.
To Those of You Who Have Done Work for the Company and Haven't Been Paid,
I hope you guys get together and sue. I really do. I honestly think that you should call around to your fellow contractors who have worked for them and do a class action lawsuit. There are probably more companies who have done "business" with them in your area than you would think. Give them a call and keep fighting for what they owe you.
I've been separated from this company for several months. I believed that they were within weeks of going under. I'm very surprised that they have still been able to find contractors to work for them and that they have been able to keep their business afloat. I've moved on with my life and I am not writing this as a disgruntled employee or as someone who is looking for sympathy or anything like that. I'm really just writing this because I want to throw in my two cents about this company from how I saw it firsthand. I hope that this post does someone out there some good. I hope the best for those of you who have lost more than just money from this business venture.

No pay, run around, scam
LEVEL 1 Maintenance- SCAM!!! BEWARE!!! WARNING!!! DANGER!!!
Look out contractors and service companies- (and potential employees) This company, Level 1 Maintenance, is a RIP OFF! If they approach you asking you to do ANY kind of work- landscaping, window wash, pressure wash, etc, for them and their clients (ExxonMobil, Blockbuster, OfficeMax, 7eleven, etc) RUN AWAY!!! It's NOT a question of IF you will be ripped off, its a question of WHEN, and for HOW MUCH money it will cost you. LISTEN TO US who have already been victimized by them. You DO NOT need work this badly. In these tough times, you must be even MORE selective on who you work for- just like WE have learned. This company is a COMPLETE joke.
They ask you to do the work, and usually will tell YOU what they will pay- which is peanuts for what they ask. We figured we would make it up on future business volume- but that assumption just cost us more money. They tell you the terms are net 45 days. They may ask you for pictures of the job site before and/or after, signed work tickets, etc, etc. Then the fun starts. They will wait intil the 45 days has almost run, THEN tell you that they never got the pictures, pictures were not the right type, never got the right paperwork, something was missing, customer has not released payment yet, and myriad other excuses NOT to pay you.
Add to that the fact that they have a absolutely COLOSSAL turn over rate in their office staff- so information is also lost between employee changeover (your "account service rep"). Even the employees get fed up with this operation and quit. Before our last ASR quit, this person told us that the company is a complete joke, and that this person was sick and tired of all the pissed off contractors complaining about all kinds of things. We can't provide any more specific info at this time, as we are preparing legal action against them and their upline customers. Just trust the people you read about here- and elsewhere on the web- AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!
Bottom line is that these people will get you to do the job, then they will hide behind all kinds of "red tape" to avoid/delay payment. They are preying on suckers. DON'T BECOME ONE !!!

Failure to Pay
Level 1 Maintenance contacted me in July wanting me to serve the 7-11 Stores on the Outer Banks and I began serving them On August 1, 2010. I have submitted my invoices on time and now the season is over they are telling me my Liability Insurance doesnt read the way they want it to read so they are not going to pay me for my services. I have no other recourse but to put a mechanics lien against the building which belongs to 7-11. Please be aware of this Company for I see they are not paying many .

Level 1 maintenance does not pay for services rendered
I too am a landscaper in Norfolk, Va who contracted with Level 1 maintenance to service 7 Eleven landscaping.
I started the season in March 2010 I worked until June 2, 2010. Submitted all my invoices monthly, completed contract and waited 45 days then it was 2 months, 3 months 4, 5, and now 6 months and level 1 has not paid.
I email and email and email every person I have an email address for and today they blocked all my incoming emails to level 1 maintenance and sent me a email saying:
"they are waiting on funds from 7 Eleven and would pay me when funds come available. The contract though said they would pay me 45 days from receipt of my bill. It's been 6 months.
What am I to do? 757.202.7770

Not payment for services rendered
This company contacted our company via the Yellow Pages and asked us to perform landscaping work for them for the 7-11's in Norfolk, VA.
They have paid us 1 small check for services since March 2010 and it was only partial payment. This is August 31, 2010 and they have not responded back to us when we called and left a message, they keep changing people around in their company so you never speak to the same person rarely if you do get someone on the phone. They give you a promise date and then you never get anything in the mail. Beware this company is not legit in doing business. They will keep sending you rejection letters to off set payment another 45 days so they can keep from paying you and will send you out to do more work and then send you a rejection notice saying they will not pay. We are at a stand still at this time and the only option is to go to small claims court or to an attorney. I feel the media needs to be informed so the businesses here in the USA are no longer being ripped off from this company.

Will Not Pay
I was contacted by Level 1 Maintenance in early May 201o, to begin lawn services for 7-11s in my area. I serviced these stores every week and got work tickets signed every time, and submitted my invoices with the work tickets at the end of every week. Now its 45 days later and its time for me to get paid. Today I received a letter stating that my billing was rejected because I can only bill once a month for each store for the four visits made that month. I was never made aware of this, and would not have gotten involved with them has I known this. So, I am now looking at mid-August to be paid for work performed the first part of May. I have to re-do my invoices and wait ANOTHER 45 DAYS to get paid. In the meantime, I'm having to pay for my expenses up front with no guarantee of getting paid. This is stalling tactics at their worst. The more I read about this company the more upset I get. It's bad enough dealing with 7-11 store managers, but I did good, quality work for this company and all I ask is to be paid for my work. Any help someone could give in dealing with this sorry company is much appreciated. Thanks,
Mark Hudson

Don't Pay
I had a contract with Level 1 Maintenance beginning June 2009. In the contract it states that they will send checks 45 days from time they get invoices. I found this to be untrue. They pay when they are ready to pay or don't pay at all. My work orders are signed, My invoices are complete. I want to get paid. They are refusing. Any one else having this problem?
