When I bought my house in February 2009, I purchased LG appliances. Specifically I purchased an electric range, a microwave and a refrigerator. The refrigerator had a Kenmore Elite label but was actually manufactured by LG. The control panel on all three appliances were defective. The warranty covered the repairs on the refrigerator and the microwave because the warranty was still in effect when the appliance failed. But the defect did not manifest itself on the range until after the warranty had expired. The service technician I hired to repair the range told me that LG had issued a service bulletin on the defective part, so they were aware of the defect. When I asked LG to cover the repairs they refused. Also, on two occasions, I was steered away from LG televisions by salesmen who worked for companies that sold that brand. According to them, LG is having problems with their tvs also. THESE THINGS SOMETIMES HAPPEN TO COMPANIES AND CAN BE OVERLOOKED IF THE COMPANY IS WILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT EVEN AFTER THE WARRANTY WHEN IT COMES TO OBVIOUS DEFECTS, BUT LG REFUSES TO DO THAT. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER LG PRODUCT AGAIN. ALSO, BEWARE OF LG PRODUCTS THAT ARE MADE FOR OTHER COMPANIES AND HAVE ANOTHER BRAND NAME ON THEM.
