We purchased our refrigerator at Sears less than two years ago. This refrigerator cost us over $3, 000.00. We were so happy thinking that we didn’t just buy a beautiful appliance but also a dependable refrigerator that would last us a long time, specially since both my husband and I are retired and now live on a fixed income.
Eight months after we purchased this refrigerator, it went bad. After a few days, a repairman came to our home and fixed it, but three weeks later, it stopped working again. A few days later a second repairman came to the house explained that the problem was something else and to fix it a part had to be ordered. A week later the part came in and another appointment had to be made for the repairman to install the part.
Six days ago the same refrigerator stopped working again. We immediately called Sears repair and they said they would be at our house that afternoon. By almost 4 pm, they (Sears) called to say that that the repairman could not make it until Monday, because they did not have enough repairmen for the jobs ahead. Again I called the Sears repair office and told them that this was too long to wait. They gave me an emergency appointment and sent someone to our house yesterday Saturday, June 25, (six days after the original appointment). The repairman came to check the refrigerator and could not fix it because the part that went bad has to be ordered. This part won’t be here until sometime next week and by the time they scheduled us (again) for the next repair it’s going to be 9 days without a refrigerator.
With the stress of getting the refrigerator completely clean so it wouldn’t smell, my husband passed out right in front of me. I stayed on the floor with him until he got better. My husband has heart problem and takes many medications throughout the day. Some of the medications we keep in the refrigerator and now we don’t even have a place for these. I head so many time the words “I am sorry for the inconvenient”… but if my husband gets sick again and ends up in the hospital or worst... who is going to be responsible for this and “I am sorry” won’t fix the damage all this inconvenience brought to him.
We have lost 100% of what was in the refrigerator and AGAIN… Sorry is not what we need to hear any more.
We bought the extra protection plan for this refrigerator, but according to Sears rules, an appliance has to be repaired four times within a 12 months period in order for Sears to replace it.
We want to be reimbursed for our food loss and for Sears to come and pick up this refrigerator and give us the credit to buy another one ASAP.
