I am writing you today because I have had an unauthorized withdrawal from my checking account from a company whom I have recently found out has scammed hundreds of people. I notified my bank of this matter, yet they told me that it was nothing they could do to help me. On May 6, 2010 I filled out a loan application online, after putting in my banking information and with careful thought I decided not to submit the application because I had a funny feeling that something was not right. I then closed the browser window and left the site. On May 11, 2010 I went into my online banking account to check the status of monies that should have been electronically deposited in my account from another source, which I have been receiving twice a month since 2005. That money was in my account. But I noticed a check charge on my account for the amount of $34.19 which I had no knowledge of or even authorized. I called my bank which is Bank of America regarding this check and they gave me information regarding this company by the name of Liberty discount club. I have never heard of this company or have I had any business dealings with this company. I call this company at the number the bank gave me (1866-302-2828). I call Liberty discount club and ask them why they have deducted monies from my account. They asked me if I filled out an application for a loan, which I did but no where on this loan application did I see their name or anything regarding a fee. I then ask them how is it that they have my information when I never had dealings with them, they could not explain themselves. They only could tell me that if I wanted a refund to go to this site (www.libertyclubrefund.com). Well I am telling them why would I have to request a refund if I never even authorize my account to be deducted from in the first place. So, to get this matter taken care of so that I could possibly get my money back I go to the site fill out the refund request. I was told that I should receive an email in 72 hours regarding the status. I never received an email from them. This all happened on May 11, Tuesday. I called them on Thursday to find out the status of the refund. The person I spoke to could not give me the answers I wanted but insisted that I go to their refund status website. I go to the site plug in the cancellation number I was given and this screen comes up stating that they are sorry that they could not refund my money but they have canceled my subscription. I was like what subscription, I never signed up for any subscription, so I call them back to find out what is going on and what subscription are they referring to, still no answers. At this point I am so
frustrated and very upset. I tell them that I do not think that it was
right at all they the stole my Identity and used it to take monies
from my account and then make up something so bogus like me signing up for a subscription that I have never signed up for and still do not
know what kind of subscription it was. In the mist of my frustration I
type in the company's name online and this site pops up about ripoff
reports with their company name all over the site. I go to the site
and I see hundreds of complaints about this company and how others
have gone through the exact same thing as me. I was in complete shock
by this and I soon knew that my information was stolen and used
without my authorization. I too filed a report with Ripoff report.com.
I then contacted CBS news to see if I could get something done about
this, have not heard back from them as of yet. Now suddenly on
Thursday evening I received an email from Liberty Club stating that
they would refund my monies back into my account in less than two
business days and that I need not take any further action as this
would slow the process of me receiving my money. I go to my bank on
Friday morning May 21, and spoke with a rep who advises me to talk
with someone in the check fraud department, which would in fact be
over the telephone. I spoke with someone and they simply told me that
there was nothing that they could do because I should have never
filled out loan application. I was told that I took the risk of my
information being stolen. I never submitted the application in the
first place and how is it that a company that was never mentioned on
this application has the right and the authority not by me to take
money from my account. I can not understand how can this be. How is it that I am at fault for something I did not authorize or agree to, but
yet my bank tells me that this company has that right, how is that.
This company stole my information off of a loan application that I
never submitted and used it to defraud me of my money. It would be
wonderful if the bank were on my side, after all I am their customer
and isn't the customer always right, should I not have a say about
what is authorized and not authorized on my account. Times are hard
and for me to have to pay for this error is absurd. I have incurred
two overdraft fees from my bank because of this. This just is not good
business and I would appreciate your help with this matter. Thank you

Tried to get a loan from a company and was signed up for Liberty Discount Club. Without permission they took 34.19 from my acct. Tried calling and got operator and was told because i.p. address was linked to my computer, i couldn't have discount. Even though i did not sign up for this company. My bank won't even help get the money back because they said it was turned into paper form. I did'nt even get the loan/cash advance.

My complaint is the same as all the rest I've read about Liberty. They charged me 34.19 and I did not authorize it. They used the information I put in when applying for an online loan and turned the 34.19 into a check . Had I known about it in time, my bank could have stopped payment or returned it unpaid, but of course, I did not know about it. This put me in an overdraft situation. Once I talked to my bank and found out the company name and phone number, I called them and demanded a refund. I was given a cancellation number by Ira and told to go to a website--www.libertyclubrefund.com and fill out the information. This was what I did. I received a message that my data had been received and I would hear from them within 72 hours, which of course, I never did. Nor did I get a refund. So, today, I called again and was told by Mark that I needed to go to www.libertyclubdispute.com, which I cannot get to for love nor money ! Mark says they sent me a message requesting more information. He said he resent the message today, so I'm going to check my email and see what is there. Probably NOTHING as this is one heck of a scam. I think someone should turn them in to let's say the Better Business Bureau to start and see where else to go. That is what I intend to do. Wish me luck fellow victims.

I was online searching for payday loans for funds to pay a divorce attorney and I was billed $34.19 from this Liberty Discount Club that I did not authorize or approve. I contacted my credit union and they could not help because it was drawn as a check #490294. I never signed it or gave permission for the funds to be taken out and I have contacted them multiple times and they refuse to give me a refund. They told me I could dispute it, which I did and they still refused to return the funds. I was given a cancellation number on April 28th, #4969908 and my reference number is #8314448. I have spoken to a Brian and a Grace and still get the runaround. How can they do this? The check they processed was dated 4/23/10 and came out of my credit union on 4/27/10. I am very angry that they told me they would return the funds in 72 hours and still have not 3 weeks later. How can these people be legitimate? Please help me resolve this asap. I need my funds!

My husband and I had been online looking and checking out loans, etc. Trying to get through to out next payday. That was about 3 weeks ago. As of today 5/11/10 I have had 5 different withdrawls from my account that we did not authorize. I have called each phone number I could find, told them I never enlisted any of their services, then went to the websites with each cancelation conformation number given provided all the information they asked for them to issue a refund to my account. Needless to say it caused my account to become overdrawn... I have contacted my bank and filled out paperwork, for the unauthorized deductions from the account (fraud) for each withdraw---gave the bank all of the copies of the e-mails and phone-calls that I had. Now I am waiting, broke, account overdrawn, for someone to help me get this fixed!! Please dont make the same mistake of thinking you could do the loans online so you are spared the embarrassment of being seen at the store!!
Liberty Discount Club is a FRAUD--If I could afford it I would find a way to shut them down.
