They sent me several letters indicating that I had previously had carotid artery screening and was at risk for high cholesterol and needed to be re-screened or other risk factors. I was given the address of their van and a date to show up.
I called their number and asked for a copy of the previous screenings they claimed they could only make appointments. I called and asked Dr. Shepherd to call me back. She has never returned any calls.
Neither I nor my doctor are aware of any tests on the date they claimed I was screened. In fact, my doctor stated my cholesterol level was just fine.
It's a scam. They send these letters to people and scare them into coming in for tests. They even offer a coupon for a discount.
The NYS Board of Medical Ethics says that what they do is not actually against the law. Reprehensible as it may be.
People should watch out for them.
