Stupidity
The middle of December I had Lindstrom install a new HVAC in my home. I had asked for a standard sized return so I could get replacement filters anywhere. They installed a 20x24 return. I have yet to find a single 20x24 filter in any Home Depot or Lowes. In addition, the year's supply of filters they provided are all 20x25 (which is a size they do sell in all the stores). When I inquired I was told 20x25 was not a standard size and they would have to order it. It is now 2/17 and they are scheduled to come out next Friday to install the new return. We'll see.

Major rip off
We used their service recently for an annual maintenance check on our A/C, which they sold us in Mid 2001. The technician came out to our place on Monday March 8, 2010. Right away he acted as though there was a major problem with our system.

In fact, he told us our A/C which is cooling just fine needed to be replaced. Conveniently, he told us he could have a salesman call us the next day to sell us a new system. He also recommended $1901 in replacement parts for our system.

One would have thought we had a thirty-year old system in our house which was on the verge of imploding, the way he acted! In fact, he tried to sell us everything but the kitchen sink.

Then I found out that their "technicians" are paid on commission. So, essentially they are salesmen in different suits. Now everything makes sense. Last year when we had their technician out here they also tried to run up a tab but not nearly to the degree their technician did this year.

Basically, since your techs. are paid on commission there only real incentive is to sell as many goods and services as possible; after all that results in a larger paycheck for them. However what we called for was a routine maintenance check, which we have been doing almost every year since we bought our system. This is above and beyond what most homeowners do which is call up only when there system breaks down.

To add insult to injury, the technician told us our A/C was obsolete and they were no longer going to sell the gas for our type of A/C. He recommended we get a Puron system from Carrier. What this bozo forgot to do was look at his paperwork and see that we already had a Puron system from Carrier. In fact Lindstrom sold it to us eight years ago. Furthermore, it says Puron right on the system.

In short, their technician was a poor excuse for a technician. He was unqualified, ignorant, and simply wanted to run up a tab at our expense. With all due respect to Mr. Lindstrom I was born at night but not last night. Their technicians are nothing more than poorly trained salespeople disguised at technicians. Their technician wasted our time and our money. I am not sure how much more juice they want to squeeze out of this lemon- having commissioned technicians disguised as trained A/C techs. supposedly "looking out for the customer."

If you look at the attached list from the Internet you will note that I am not alone. Every single one of the people on the page says that Lindstrom ripped them off, and this is only one page, from one site of the many people dissatisfied with Lindstrom Air Conditoning!
