fraud
Several months ago Lingo added a $10 per month add-on feature to my plan that I have no interest in and did not request. I called to cancel and request a refund. The customer service rep said there was no record of me ordering the add-on and said he would give me credit for the three months I was billed. However, he must transfer me to the cancellation dept. because only they can remove the feature. The service rep from the cancellation dept. (Cate) was very rude and insisted that I must have added the feature myself because they would never add I feature I did not request. However, it is a feature that I have never been interested in (softphone) so I am 100% certain I did not ask them to add it to my service three months ago. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she refused to transfer me and told me there was no supervisor above her.
I would warn anyone using Lingo, or thinking of using Lingo, to check your bill regularly. You may find that they have added features that you do not want.

Monthly raise
My Wife and I have decided to have LINGO as our International Calling Co.. They advertise UNLIMITED PHONE CALLS for about $20.00 per Cell phone. After 2 months my wife see that they charge more than was supposed too and this happened every single month until we have a $89, 00 debit for our 03/2011 bill. We asking for the LINGO Customer Service Why and they say that we are using a 1.800 number to call to Brazil. Well the thing is, THEY GAVE TO US THAT 1.800 NUMBER since we " sign" with them. They say "sign but in fact we have any SIGNATURE IN ANY CONTRACT. Now we are very UPSET because we have found this website, COMPLAINTSBOARD.COM and we see same complains 5 years ago. WHERE IS ON THIS COUNTRY THE CONSUMERS RIGHTS DEFENDANTS WHERE THEY ARE? WHY LINGO STILL DOING THE SAME WITHOUT ANY, I MEAN, AAANNNNYYYYYY SUE.

Misleading usage information
I recently signed up for unlimited calling to 70 countries. It mentions nowhere that there is a 300 minute limit per month. I just beg you as a consumer...DONOT sign up for lingo. I am stuck with a 2 year contract with them and I can only use 300 minutes per month for 23 dollars. I may as well get a cellphone contract. Please know that this company is a scam and will rip you off. Stay away for your own good.

Big mistake
I have been a lingo customer for 6 months or so. They 'accidentally' (according to an email from them) shut off my phone service on a Friday night. They refuse to turn my service back on until Monday. I am disabled and ill and have to have phone service. They refuse to help.

Fruad
I was told upon cancellation that I would get a $99.95 cancellation fee. I was never aware of this when I signed up.
Lingo service was lousy at best. It only works for one phone and will not work with any sercurity system. If one has to use the internet phone service and aware of its limitation, magicjack is much cheaper alternative.

Awful company
This is very bad Service. I took this service since they have cheap calls to India .But there service is really bad. I tried to cancel the service and called the customer service which goes to a call center in india. They wont cancel the service and gave me lot of trouble. Finally after several calls I am able to cancel the service. They still charged me with the cancellation charge. Do not take this service at all.

Unauthorized charges
Lingo (VOIP phone service company) has changed the contract term from 12 months to 24 months and contract breach penalty from $59.95 to $99.95 in mid term for all customers by just giving 3 business day notice. This certainly is unethical but is this illegal as well?
They make people sign 15 page contract signed in which they had put a clause "Lingo may change the Terms and Conditions of this Agreement from time to time. Notices will be considered given and effective on the date posted at www.Lingo.com. The Agreement posted supersedes all previously agreed to electronic and written Terms and Conditions". Does this give them right to change contract duration as well?
