Dog Training
In February 2009 my mother and I had sent our female 8 month old Australian Shepherd to a 2 week training program at the Little Wolf Doggy Day Spa and Resort. She charged over $800 for it. My dog came back trained and well behaved and we were very pleased. After a few weeks I began to notice that Suki (my dog) was gaining a lot of weight. One night I was laying on my couch rubbing her belly and I noticed that her nipples were beginning to swell and droop. We took her to the vet the next day, and to our surprise she was pregnant with 7 puppies. We were outraged, not only did we pay over $800 but my 8 MONTH old dog was pregnant. Little Wolf took absolutely no responsibility for it, she tried to convince us that this was a wonderful thing, and that it would calm Suki down. She would not reimburse us or even help pay for vet bills or the cost of a whelping box. We were livid. We had no plans on breeding her, We had an appointment to get her fixed in march. I had no idea that she would have her first heat while she was at training. My mother had filled out papers with Little Wolf before she had sent Suki to training. We assumed Little Wolf would be professional and keep the dogs that weren't spayed or neutered away from each other. But not only were they allowed to play together but she had apparently been leaving them together unsupervised (which was how Suki got pregnant).Little Wolf said that she had no idea that Suki had mated with a male, and had no idea who the father was. A few weeks after the first vet trip Suki went into labor and had 7 healthy puppies. Little Wolf came over to my house and supervised the delivery. When the puppies were 4 weeks old she pressured my mother into giving them to her for free. My mother was hesitant for a while because she knew that 4 weeks was way to early to let the puppies go. Little Wolf didn't give up and finally convinced my mother that the puppies were okay to go and that if they stayed with the mother any longer the puppies would just gain bad habits that would be hard to correct. She used excuses like "I am a retired vet, Ive birthed a ton of puppies, I know what is best". I was livid, I would not let her take all of the puppies, so she decided to only take the 2 biggest ones that day. 2 weeks later she came for 3 more. We planned on keeping 2 of the puppies but when the puppies were 9 weeks old, we decided that 2 puppies were too difficult. So my mother contacted Little Wolf to come pick up the last puppy because Little Wolf was apparently training the puppies to be special needs dogs and we felt like that would be for a good cause. Little Wolf had not kept Suki's training up while she was pregnant (like she planned to), and Suki relapsed and forgot all of her training. Little Wolf would not return our calls after we had given her 6 puppies and would not come train Suki. Suki now suffers from anxiety (caused by separating her from her puppies too early) and constantly barks, whines, and is paranoid. I would not recommend Little Wolf to anyone. Our experience with her forever changed our dog.
