Daughter wanted an LPSO - littlest petshop online, inexpensive gift, but the #1 thing on her list. Cute plush toys with the ability to play online via a code that comes with the "pet". It is a very misleading product with a terrible website, support was attentive though - outsourced in Bangladesh more than likely with a knowledge base of canned answers, almost like we are alpha testers for their site.
It took me until Christmas night to even get the thing registered because the website was unable to get connection, probably a bunch of other like me banging away trying to keep the smile on your kids face. I finally was able to register, but entering the pet code doesnt create your pet, it allows you to create one. While this is a nice feature, the only way you would know that you could even do this is to click a small hyperlink under the "tickets" - took another support call for me to figure this out. By the time I finally got everything to the point where she could play, it was 12 hours after she opened the gift - a big frown turned to a smile.
All in all, it is just not a good toy for anyone without the ability to read long technical responses from support or even quantify your issue to begin with. I would bet that 1% of kids could figure this process out or navigate it without the assistance of an adult and maybe not even then - I am an IT professional and know the drill.
I would be embarrased to attach my name to this product if I were EA and Hasbro - advertise the bejeesus out of it, over promise, under deliver, the american way, just keep the quarterly profits rising, sad!
