In August 2005 I was living in South Florida and decided to move back to NY due to financial reasons. I had hired a recommended local moving company based out of Boca Raton, Fl. A representative (Gabriel) came to my storage unit where my belongings were while I lived with my parents, and he advised me on company policies and quoted me an estimate. They unlike most moving companies, go by the square foot rather than weight so my estimated space needed on their truck was 500 sq ft. at a price between $1800 and $1900 a flat rate.

I scheduled the pick up and specifically told them that I wanted everything on one truck and not moved from truck to truck. I was told that was not a problem.

When the truck came the driver saw that there wasn't enough room on his truck to accomodate all my stuff (due to the rep's mis-judgement)so they had to bring another truck in and that is exactly what I told them I didn't want. I called the owner and told him I didn't want this to happen and since I am in no rush to move that I would cancel this truck and he said not to worry that nothing would happen to my belongings he assured me...

Well to make a very long story short... My box spring is now rusted (he tied it to the outside of the truck and not covered properly). I made a list of all my items that were missing, broken and all damages incurred. I have pictures to prove damages and letters and pics sent to them sent via registered/certified mail 2 times. Which he ignored. I have too many things missing and many items that are in the family way to long to replace...I then reported him to the 'BBB' with disputes back and forth thru e-mails and then he says ' I believe I sent them a check for $300...(he just continues to LIE)...and unfortunately they didnt find the need to ask for a cancelled check for proof, so they closed the case. My estimate I sent him (not including the family heirlooms that are irreplaceable) was for $740. It's not fair I am a single woman with no man to help fight for me and he is taking advantage of me. I also reported him to the U.S. Department of Transportation and Moving Scams.com, and to no avail I am still LOST & MISSING... Please Help Me...I want to be re-imbursed and hopefully some justice can be taken for this fly-by-night homebased, poorly executed business/man...he cannot do this to people and get away with it...HELP!!!
