Low Book Sales Reviews

I GOT SCREWED OVER
I bought my car at Low Book Sales about two years ago, its a 2003 Passat VW. They told me my car was never in an accident they even showed me the paper work, I wish I would've printed that. Once I got my car it immediately stared having problems the oil pressure light keept coming on and the Check Engine light. I took it to them about four times they said nothing was wrong with it. Shortly after that my car keept getting worse my oil pannel feel apart, My axels broke and my Antifreeze started leaking, also my struts are starting to go. The seat warmers are not working theres a crack in the Manifold and My o2 Sensors need to be replaced also when I turn right my break light comes on. So I had my cousin do some work on it he noticed immediately that my car was in an accident, He said everything in the Enging had been replaced so I went home and looked up the title on it and there it was it was in a head on collision, it wasn't totaled but still if I would've known it was in any kind of accident I would've never bought that car, because we had a bad experience with a car that was in one before. This place is horrible I'll make sure to let everyone know never to buy a car from this place, Because they are Liars and a fraud company. I am so stressed out with this, now I am in way over my head in this car. I tried to sell it and trade it in but I owe more then the car is worth

Scam Ads to get the phone to ring
Lists cars on KSL to get their phone to ring. Bogus cars, Bogus Prices. Scam ads.

Called on Ad. They do not have the car, they have not secured the car, they do not own the car, the car in not in their possession, it is not on their lot. The price is a bogus and subject to change. It is something they could hypothetically get through an auction.

How dumb do they think consumers are these days.

We were sold a car with a broken radiator
The salesperson put pressure on us to purchase the car immediately, we were sold a car with a broken radiator, and I got the runaround every time I tried to call Low Book Sales. I mentioned the radiator after I test-drove the car, and they promised to invest 1700 in repairs, including the radiator. They only put on new tires, a new muffler, and changed the oil. I brought it back because it still smelled like antifreeze and was told there was no problem. I took it to my mechanic and was told the radiator was leaking and needed to be replaced! They are unethical, incompetent, and I will NEVER go back! Do yourself a favor and go ANYwhere else!

Do not deal with them
At first they were treating me well. couple days ahead filled out credit app made appointment . day of appointment they started finding things wrong, kept saying will call back, but i had to call them. more the 4 or 5 times i got from them i will call you at a certain time, but as much as hour past and not call so i called, still kept getting run around./ if they would have been straight forward and said we can't help me then i would have felt ok with it, but the run around made me upset . I recommend that no one deals with them.

Bait-and-Switch
Classic Bait-and-Switch, and by a well-known dealership!

Low Book Sales lists cars on the largest community classifieds website, kslcars.com, for very low prices, and then changes the price on the buyer after they're already interested. It is clearly an unethical attempt to lure customers into buying a more expensive vehicle. Its purpose is to get customers to come in to the dealership by FALSELY advertising the vehicle at a "special low price", then after they're interested and ready to spend their money, tell them it was a mistake and the vehicle is actually much more expensive.

I submit my own experience as evidence. Yesterday (Nov 21st, 2008) I went to Low Book Sales to see a 2003 Mercury Sable which at the time was listed on KSL Cars for $2, 219. The salesman *confirmed* the low price at the dealership, telling me that the vehicle was one of an "over-abundance of trade-ins" they were "trying to unload" as quickly as possible. Chris -- the salesperson I spoke with -- said they had marked down the vehicle to only $800 over their purchase price because they were trying to get rid of it. I test drove the vehicle, and we agreed I would come back the next day (it was too late in the evening for a proper inspection) and that I would most likely purchase the vehicle.

Today I called him at 1:00pm and he confirmed that he was expecting me at 3:00. I showed up at the scheduled time. Chris was not there. The manager had another salesman come and speak to me about the Mercury. He told me that the price was a "mistake" made by whoever submitted the ad, and that the vehicle was actually supposed to be listed for $6, 400. (Later in the same conversation he blamed KSL Cars for the misprint in price.) He claimed that Low Book Sales NEVER sells a vehicle for under $6000 (even though a quick search on KSL Cars will reveal several vehicles in the $3000-5000 range). He also said they had updated the ad on KSL Cars with the correct sale price.

I was understandably upset, and left the dealership. This evening, I went on to KSL Cars and looked up the ad again. I discovered that Low Book Sales HAD indeed updated their price -- it was now listed at $2, 560 !!! -- this is only $341 above than the original "mistake" price!! They knew I was pre-approved for $4300 -- so why are they now listing the vehicle for a NEW low price on the very day they told me it was $6400? My best guess is they figured they could WEASEL me into paying more, into getting a more expensive loan, into somehow affording or getting financing for the more expensive price; and when they realized I wasn't going to play that game (and couldn't afford to anyhow), they simply tweaked the number enough to still be just as appealing to some other unsuspecting buyer!!

This is a FRAUD on car buyers in the Salt Lake area. I am insulted and ashamed that this WELL KNOWN dealership is resorting to such cruel and UNETHICAL tactics to profit off the unsuspecting public. Upon further research, I am learning that dozens of other people have experienced the same cruel, deceptive, and completely unethical behavior.
