I purchased Surfaces brand carpet from Lowe's Home Improvement store on November 11th 2003, I was told on that brand of carpeting I would have a ten year warranty on the wear of the carpet and was told nothing else, three years later my carpet looks as if it is 20 years old carpet. After purchasing my carpet I also purchased a $250 carpet cleaner to maintain my carpets. Well I dug up my contract from when I purchased it and called Lowe's and they had no record of my purchase but since I did have my contract they did after 3 weeks manage to find me in their system and they said they would have to contact the manufacture of the carpet and then would have someone come to my house and look at it. Well one week later I get a call back from the gentlemen and he tells me that I did not maintain my carpet properly or I wouldn't be have this problem, I ask the man how he could ever know that when they haven't even looked at the carpet and he says to me that if I do not have receipts that I had my carpet professionally cleaned at least once a year that my whole contract is void with the manufacturer. He says he has done all that he could and I would need to contact Surfaces company myself and gives me their number.
I call the company and they tell me that they can not speak to me that my contract is with Lowe's. Well I have went over and over my contract and no where in there does it state anything about professional cleaning to have the warranty. The Lowe's company will not help me at all and they will not stand by their products they sell and I can not afford to hire a lawyer over this matter so now I am stuck with wore out carpet with no other options when the whole reason for my purchase was that if the carpet had a warranty of 10 years I should not have replace it for at least ten years.
