We purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer from Lowe's in April 2008 and bought the extended warranty service contract--they call it Lowe's Service Advantage -- what a joke! Our washer began malfunctioning 2 months ago. We read on the web about the problem and verified that this was what was wrong. We called Lowe's Service Advantage to schedule repair. It took almost a week for someone to come out -- service was scheduled through some company in Portland although we live in Seattle. The man who came was incompetent. My husband told him what was wrong but he said, no, it was something else and he had to order a part. It took a week for the part to arrive. When he returned and installed it (and made a big mess in our laundry room), the washer did not work. It was not the right part. He told us he had to order another part -- this was Wednesday. He said he would be back the following Monday with the part. We got a voicemail from the folks in Portland saying to call them to schedule service -- despite the fact that we had been told by the service man he would return Monday. We called -- no answer. It's the weekend. Guess they don't have to do laundry for their families on the weekends. I called Lowe's Service Advantage and was told the part is still not in--and no idea when it will be in. So, I get to carry all our laundry out somewhere after working a 60+ hour week and I have no idea when I will have my laundry machine working again. I wish we had purchased our machine from somone else with local service. This is totally unacceptable.
