Lowes Home Improvement Reviews

Did not honor coupon
Lowes's sent me an email for 10% off on any purchase I made good through 2/24/2011. I printed out the coupon but the barcode would not print. I tried several ways to get the barcode to print but had no success. I took the printed page into the store and requested the manager to authorize my 10% off and explained that my computer would not print the barcode. Every other part of the coupon printed perfectly. The manager, "Amy" told me to either use someone else's computer to try to print the barcode, or go to the public library to try to print the coupon. I found these suggested alternatives to be both insulting and annoying since I have spent several thousand dollars at their store in the last 8 months doing a whole-house remodel of my home. In spite of my attempts to reason with them over this, neither the managers, "John", "Amy", or customer service clerk, "Ashton" would bother to accomodate me, a very good customer in their store. I asked "Amy" to pull up my buying data in the store's data base to see how much I have spent there and she did. She then insulted me further by saying that my records show "various detail items" purchased in the last year. I DO NOT CONSIDER SPENDING OVER TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS AT THEIR STORE TO BE "VARIOUS DETAIL ITEMS". I am very upset over this experience today and will plan on making HOME DEPOT my new store of choice for my remaining remodel purchases.

Local installer January 5, 2011
Water heater install
Better check out the rules for installing water heaters here. The sign says 235.00 for a water heater install but it wont tell you that you also have to pay for a permit, a drip pan, new fittings, new hoses, 35.00 for an estimate that is non refundable. You are much better off to get someone from around the area to install it for you if you cant. Most local plumbers will do the job for about 150.00. By the time Lowe's is done with you you will have spent 800.00 or more for a 350.00 appliance. Don't purchase an extended maintenance plan. You are better off to just buy the next series heater up i.e. a 9 year rather than a 6 year since you wont have to deal with the crap from a second rip off. Oops forgot that you have to pay extra for pick up and if the location is elevated there is another charge as well as the headaches that go with hooking up electricity. Plan ahead because it will take you a half hour just to get the paper work done and then you still have to wait for an installer to call you and make an appointment to check out everything first. Then you go in to purchase everything. Hope you didn't need hot water for a couple of days. Just hire someone local and save yourself a lot of hassles.

refusal to load products for disabled
On 3 different dates, I purchased 80 lb. bags of concrete and explained I was disabled and needed someone to load product for me.All 3 times nobody helped.fortunately I brought a friend along. This type of treatment to the disabled is shameful. Please don, t shop at Lowes and help people with disabilties a bit of dignity and self respect.Give thanks for your health, you never know when you, ll be in my shoes.

Poor installation of Pergo Flooring
November 2009 purchased over $4, 000 in pergo flooring and installation.Contractor started mid November and finished mid Feburary .Incorrectly installed, floor is bowing and quarter round peeling .Have tried to get some resolution from Lowe;s, they all agree it's a poor job and should be re-done.I have unsucessfully to get them to do something. They come out and look but that's about all that they will do.I am at the point I am ready to hire an attorney and slap a law suit againest Lowe's.That seems to be the only way to get their attention.I will never do any business with this co.again.

Pergo Floor
About 2 years ago I purchased several thousand dollars worth of Pergo and labor to install from Lowes. My husband was very ill at this time but the floors needed to be done. The store associates told me it was warrantied against pets, said nothing about it being a problem if a drop of water were to penetrate the seam but assured me I would be very happy with my choice. I have near 3000sq ft home with all but 2 floors being replaced with Pergo. Including my laundry room and kitchen. #1) After installing I found small chips at the very corned of some of the slabs #2 There was an area where they placed it incorrectly and replaced it which looks like a mending job #3 Door frame slabs broke or cracked within a week on two frames (sales manager told me she had this in her home and the door frame pieces were cheap and another manager told me my sliding door might have caused it to break. The door is at least 1" to 1 1/2" above floor.) #4 scratches were found on floor after Pergo inspectors came to evaluate. I had one Pergo inspector come in and there was no conclusive decision (to my knowledge) made. Another was called (at my request) and that is when I was given the final word they Pergo) would not stand behind there warranty because my dogs scratched the floor. So having that said Lowes would not do anything about it either. I had another floor contractor come in and he said they should have replaced the floor. But as I said at the time my husband was very sick and I coud not take the ttime to fight them with it any longer. Had I known about this site I would have placed my complaint long ago. I now am very anti warrenty replacemets. But I do make a verbal announcement to people I talk with about Lowes and Pergo. I know I have cost them 'several' thousands of dollars. I am not happy I have but I am satasfied.

A Horrible Store Manager
I have been in this business for more than 7 years. I originally came over from Home Depot, which now is something I deeply regret! Prior to that, I worked in the restaurant business for about 10yrs., where at one point, I was a store manager.
The fortunate thing is that Lowes itself, is not a bad company to work for. However, my store / store manager is a diferent story! Prior to working in this industry, I ran successful, award-winning fast food restaurants with happy employees and even happier customers . I also held a couple successful sales jobs. In my entire work history, I have never come across a bigger ASSHOLE, than Mark Gullotti. He is a poor leader by example, he treats his management staff like dog shit, and then can't seem to understand why the people he oversees, absolutely HATE HIM. And it's not just staff. I've had a few of my customers even come in and complain about his rudeness. Generally in the corporate world, you see a distance or lack of understanding between what actually goes on at the store level, and the "suits" as I call them. It's understandable that a "head-honcho" at your corporate office may not understand some of the day to day issues that go on in a store, but for a store manage not to understand it, is just rediculous. My problem really started when I began to have health isses. Since that time, Mark has made it his mission to make my life miserable in the hopes that I will one day quit. Unfortunately, I am not one of his "brainless pawns, that will do whatever he says. (especially if I don't believe it's correct/ ethical. Example: We've had several HR managers go through our store in the past few years, none of them lasting more than a year. Why? Well, because they weren't willing to sit and preach the policies to employees, while the store manager will overlook every poilcy and expect them to back him. Now, as far as myself..I have tried endlessly to move up within the company, I am one of the top-performers at my job within the district, but ther's one catch (or maybe a few) I'm brutally honest, I have missed time due to personal and family medical issues. -so accordking to them, I have an "attendance" issue. (even though I have have doctor's notes, hospital statements, and letters from my mother's oncologist!!!) Pretty unbelievable right?

If anyone else reading this has had a similar issue, please post something on here! I'm now in jeopardy of losing my job!
Did I mention that my "final" write up consisted of "punching in 10mins early 3 times in 2 wks, calling out one day, and being late one day, even though one of the managers was aware of the appointment. Now I'm being told I may lose my job/ be documented because I spent my 15 break out in my car, smoking.

Please help..do I contact the labor board<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

terrible service
Monday 11/9/09 at 3pm i went to lowes to get some paint from lowes. The store was completly dead yet there were like 5 employees behind the customer service counter conversating. Aftere about 20 minutes i had picked out my colors NOT 1 person asked me if i needed help. So, i stood at the desk for about 15 minutes and the girls behind the customer service desk practically watched me wait, and the customer service desk is about 10 feet away from the paint counter. Finially, i went over and asked for some assistance and this girl called someone from the back to come mix the paint. A few minutes later he came out and was incredibly rude n was rushing, i totally regret not looking at his name tag! So i figured they were short on staff for the paint counter n left upset. THEN!... about 530 pm i went back to get some extra paint rollers and some tinted oil based primer. stood at the counter for 20 minutes ...literally. The same girls were working behind the customer service counter so i asked them if they could get someone to help me (clearly they were still just standing there conversating doing nothing productive). She said some one will be right out. 10 minutes later... the SAME GIRL said are you waiting for some one and i said yes im still waiteg for someone to help me. I honestly don't even know why i stayed there i should have jst left. So finally someone came out and helped me and had to call someone on his cell phone to ask them how to tint the primer and do everything else. Im not the type to complain, infact ive had some preety bad service experiences and this is the first time i have ever felt the need to complain. It was the most unbelievably terrible service i have EVER seen in my life i am embarrased for who ever runs that store. I just would like them to know how bad there staff is and you should probably do some reevaluating!

Terrible company
I am an employee of lowes I have been with lowes since April 2008 I see customers get run over all day every day but I never thought I would get ran over myself. I put my sweat and blood into that place every day I work I've even hurt myself there so bad that I was out of work for months with no kind of pay what so ever no help from the company and no support I recently just got ran over last pay period and never got a check I mean its bad enough they pay me so low but when I asked for a cash paid out for my check my hr manager told me it was my fault and she couldn't do any thing to help me when I asked for information to who could help me she gave me a bogus number to call that had nothing to do with my check so now I'm faced with losing my apt and I have no food and really need to pay all my other bill because I'm what you call the working class man. The management in that store is so out of hand and clueless as to what the product they sell is used for. The case worker they have assigned me hasn't returned not one of my calls in months and the doctor that I got to about my injury just sends me in circles, I mean the most they have done for me is told me that "there is something wrong were going to send you to another doctor to find out what is wrong" who pays these guys I mean thats the biggest waist of money I've seen I could have told you that myself there is something wrong but all in all my customer service skills my work experience with the products and labor we offer are all going to waist at lowes in waikele so go to home depo maybe you'll find me there soon.

Managers in all areas
I was once employed at this lowes. First off I had to train myself. I soon realized that I knew more about the department i worked in (hardware) and the products than my department manager. She was very lazy and incompetant ( I hear she still is). If you work here long enough you realize the store is run by CSA's the managers ( Department, Zone, Operations, and Store Manager) are idiots. The higher your rank the less you know. This store illustrates the Peter Principle very well. David, try actually working a full week like most managers. Ken, you've kissed enough a%% come up for air. Ernie, you're a joke seriously. Maria...lol, you get the award for the Laziest, Most Incompetant, Undeserving Manager of all the Lowes stores. Oh yeah you should really reevaluate the excuses you come up with for your two hr lunch breaks, sudden illnesses, and MIA moments. You're starting to repeat your lies over and over again. People are noticing.
