Run by idiots that don't help
Recently at the Local Lowes I was looking For a piece of wire. After standing at the gigantic spool pressing the customer assistence button for about 15 minutes I took out a pocketknife and cut the desired amount myself. Seeing as there was no price tag on the wire, and figuring that if the employees couldn't be bothered to come assst me, I saw no harm in simply attempting to walk out the door with the length. It was there that I was stopped and asked never to return (however I was allowed to keep the wire I helped myself to) my advice? Stay away from this store.

Lousy service
Looking for front door. one employee was busy with customer. two others standing around doing nothing. waited for busy employee to get help.

Kevin Wilson did great job of helping. went back on sat. after getting front door mes. didn't like Clint he was 45min. late and didn't call to let me known that he would be late till 45min later which i was back at work.never i am sorry or anything!!! any way back to sat.morning young man tells me i have to have tax whatever for $20.00 and me telling him i didn't need that he said i had top have this and that to be able to get door. i am so disappointed in service. it is as bad as home depot!!!

we were happy to see you come into the comm. but i see it is all the same. will not see me there again and will never buy any thing from you're store . lousy service people that don't know what the are talking about lousy lousy lousy!!!

Horrible kitchen installation
DO NOT GET YOUR KITCHEN CABINETS HERE! Lowes is HORRIBLE for installing kitchen cabinets! When my husband and I first sat down with the customer rep to re-design our kitchen he was extremly friendly and made us feel very comfortable. He gave us loads of advice on what we would need in our kitchen and how to save money.

After hearing horror stories about kitchen reons we decided to go with Lowes for the main fact that if something should go wrong we believed they would stand by their customer. After all their whole campaign is about customer service! Yet once the rep commenced to re-design our kitchen on his computer and told us there was no need to actually see the kitchen I got a bit nervous. I should have known right there that it is hard to re-design a kitchen when you have never stepped foot into it! At the end of the order we spent $13, 000 for kitchen installation.

The turnout was horrible! The main focal point- the cabinets over my stove were COMPLETELY CROOKED and there was a big gap between the cupboard and the fan! We also were not able to open the shutter over our window that was over our sink b/c they mis-measured and the frame around the window came to low. So the shutter hit the wooden frame when I tried to open it! AND the lazy susan the rep convinced us to buy was too big for the space so it hit my stove when I tried to open it!

When we pointed out these disasters to the installation guys they completely agreed with us, that the kitchen was designed poorly and they tried to fix the mistakes. But I ended up with a lazy susan drawer that hit my stove, my shutter that would not open AND a huge gap in the cupboards above my stove that had to be filled with extra wood pieces.

They advised us to call the manager of installations and complain about the designer. When we called the rep to complain he got very nervous he even came to our house to see the problem and told us he would get the installation guys to come back and fix it. The problems could not be fixed unless I reinstalled the entire kitchen which I was not willing to do b/c then I would have to get my granite re-done (a cost Lowes would not cover).

When I tried to call the manager to complain I was put off constantly. I fought with them for WEEKS about this. They kept saying there was nothing they could do. THE manager BOB was very rude...he completely acted like I didn't matter. The fact that we spent $13, 000 was irrelevant to him..it was like I was complaining about a lightbulb. I had to continously go in in person to speak to him because after a while he stopped taking my phone calls. I felt like I had to stalk him to get him to admit Lowes screwed up our kitchen and I was entitled to some compensation.

After weeks of complaining and arguing he was willing to give me a $50 gift card and %40 off ONE item that had to do with my kitchen (excluding any big items). And to boot I couldn't even get the 40% of a package of potlights because they were to expensive! I was fuming! After all the money we spent, all the mistakes we got $50! Great way to value your customers!

This company is HORRIBLE! They boast about thier customer service but they don't care. That rep and his buddy who tried to cover up our mess ended up getting fired after another rep told us they had messed up kitchens before. But of course BOB the manager would never admit to that.

If you need a kitchen done DO NOT go to LOWES. My 4yr old could have designed me a better kitchen with a computer and a mouse! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! I had a 3month old at home and a toddler and finally gave up on trying to get any money back from Lowes. I just didn't have the time.

But I am WARNING anyone who is thinking about getting anything installed or designed from Lowes to STAY AWAY! Go to a professional...because this company is anything but professional!

Installation
I would avoid dealing with this Lowes and possibly the entire company in general if the procedures followed by this store are indicative of company policy.

After purchasing a dishwasher with installation, we noticed about 2 days later that water was leaking from under the dishwasher and on to our brand new hardwood floors. Since Lowes outsources their installations to subcontractors to insulate themselves from having to deal with installation issues, I was immediately put in the middle of their blame game. They went back and forth between blaming the manufacturer, the installer, back to the manufacturer and that is where we stand now. As each day goes by, the water under my hardwood floor continues to damage and Lowes could not care less. They keep stating it is an insurance issue, I disagree. It is a Lowes issue. The right thing for them to do is to fix this now month old problem and let the lawyers and insurance companies sort out who is going to pay for it.

I will never buy a single thing from this chain again. I would advise you to avoid their installation services because if something goes wrong, you are going to be in for a lot of needless headaches.

Lazy employees
Lowes in Troy Alabama has horrible, non-caring employees. I called about hardibacker board pricing because I am re-doing the flooring in my office. I spoke with Chuck Drudy. He was rude and discurtious and made the comment "I'm going to have to go all the way to the back of the store to give you an exact price." I let it go and gave him my name and office number to call me back. When he called back he spoke with another office employee and as soon as she answered the phone he blurted out the pricing. She had no idea what he was talking about and he was very rude when he explained. I called back to see if I could order the material and pay for it check by phone. The man I spoke with (i dont know his name) said "yes we accept check by phone." I thanked him, hung up and got out my checks. When I called back, they transferred me back to flooring. It was Chuck Drudy who answered. I told him I wanted to order 48 sheets of .5" hardiboard, he asked how I wanted to pay and I told him check by phone. He informed me that they dont take check by phone. I told him that I had called earlier and a man told me they did take check by phone. He yelled at me and called me a liar and said that He was the man I spoke with and that all I asked him was about pricing. I informed him that I had called two previous times and that NO HE WASNT THE MAN I SPOKE WITH THE SECOND TIME. I also told him that I didnt appreciate him calling me a liar. He hung up and transferred me to someone else. That person answered and said "we dont take check by phone" and hung up in my face. Troy Al Lowes needs to get a grip. I WILL NOT be purchasing anything else from them especially my hardiboard. They are inconsiderate a**holes who need to learn the meaning of "Customer Service" GET A CLUE, Its your JOB!! Troy Lowes just lost a veryyyyy valuble customer.

False price matching policy
Lowes advertises price matching plus 10%. This is not true. After using this policy on a few visits before. Now they say they don't price match on

sale Items. They did call the competitors store to verify the lower price and it was lower, but said they did not match sale prices. I also purchaseed the same item in April, May and again in June from the competitors store with the lower price. This is in direct conflict with their own written policy on their web site. So goes "Truth in Advertising". Lowes just another big box store. And I have been a regular customer since 1968.. But no more

Poor service
To all that would order from Lowe's
As a rule I shop for deals and service for several customers. From the better wood to the better services. Ones I do not provide. I tend to go between the three stores here and often settle on Lowe's. A few years back I had a customer that had issue with the service department. I bought the same product from them and had a sub contractor do the work...save the customer 500.00 and she was happy but swore never again to get service or even parts from Lowe's and is now a Home Depot customer all the time...even if prices are higher. A small lose to Lowe's but still a lose ...and I had always had good relations with Lowe's.
Now recently I sent a customer to Lowe's for cabinets and counter tops. I had done all the texture as well as paint and vanities...all bought at Lowe's...Then it came time for the cabinets and appliances, counter tops. I had set the floor and had set grout. The counter top guys show up and the cabinets were so far off we had to abort. The man showed up to fix the cabinets...used my tools and the was rude toward me. I let it go in the interest of getting it all done but the hold up left me waiting all day for their work to be re-done. That left the counter top guys waiting and me on hold. Waste of my time as a handyman is not cheap or something I can afford these days. Long story short we got the tops in.

As the appliances showed up more and more issues. They would not put the anti tilt on the stove without an extra charge...so for a stove install they plug it in...yea. The cabinet was to close to put in the microwave so another call to Lowe's. The manager was rude the first time out and that held steady. Finally at 3 pm the cabinet guys showed...grumbled about having to come but finally moved the cabinets the small amount needed. Still leaving a 2 inch gap at the one end.
Now as a contractor and self employed handyman I want to warn you all off...the early morning Lowe's prayer meeting when they swear to help and do and serve customers is a fallacy. They have terrible service. They will make your customers mad. If you need the services you are further ahead to contact the stone man, the cabinet maker, and the appliance store on your own. You will be able to save the customer a lot of money and a ton of aggravation. I will never again send a customer to them for service. I am still stuck with them for some things as I do still shop bargains...but be assured that their service was not a bargain, their cabinet people here in San Antonio were a nightmare and the manager we had the misfortune to deal with was rude at best.
In this day and age where jobs are scarce and money is tight and you have someone spending thousands, these big companies need to be much more respectful and more service oriented.

Denied vetrans 10% discount
In the past I have recieved a vetrans discount on purchases at Lowes. I am a Korean War veteran and have a card showing my service. Lowes now refuses to honer my service as I do not have a card with my picture. I have not used V.A. Medical benefits, so can't get a picture I.D from the V.A.

Other vets I know use V.A. medical benefits, have a V.A. picture I.D and get the 10% Lowes discount. I feel Lowes is discriminating agaist me and dishonering my 4 years of military service.

employee arest
I often shop at lowes on 220 south in roanoke va but recently have seen an employee standing outside lawn and garden {with her Lowes vest on} cursing and using VERY foul language on her cell phone then today, 7-11-10 i saw this same employee being handcuffed and arested outside your store. I am a contractor and often bring in my clients with me but if you continue to employee such people I will have to stop doing bussiness with you

Coupon rip off
LOWES rips off consumers who use coupons. They hate to see you save money. After 4 attempts I refuse to shop here anymore. Each time I go to the customer service desk...more arguments to get something corrected which is legally mine...they add the price of a coupon to your order instead of deducting. They refuse to use manufacturer coupons with a LOWES 10 % off coupon. It is such a rip off...they do everything to discourage you from savings $$. I had ten dollars in Scotts coupons which they refused to honor...I went to home depot and had no problems. I am now a HOME Depot customer and refuse to spend any money at Lowes.
