Lumber Liquidators Reviews

Does not have any warranty on their products
The date of this complaint will not be exact because it has been dragged out for so long. We bought some Australian Cypress (Bellawood) from Lumber Liquidators. We had it professionally installed. The installer contacted the local store in Houston Texas to determine moisture readings of the slab and get them to agree that the readings were ok to install. After their agreement installation took place.

Within two weeks the wood began to curl and some cases split. We contacted our installer and through him he contacted Lumber Liquidators with the problem. Their recommendation was that a sealer should have been placed on the floor but would not honor the warranty. We paid the installer another 1k to put down the sealer and the installer paid for the new flooring out of his pocket because he felt some what responsible for not being able to make Lumber Liquidators honor their warranty. Once again he contacted LL for more of their expertise and was told after the sealer was put down to acclimatize the wood in the home with packages of wood exposed for two weeks. As per instructions the installer followed these procedures.

Within two weeks after the installation the flooring curled again as bad if not worse than the time before. Upon contacting LL they sent an inspector that they hired to evaluate and take samples of the flooring. I am not sure but I think he was going to tell LL what they wanted to hear. They said it was the fault of everyone but their flooring. They said that the flooring was subject to more humidity than the flooring could tolerate. We live in the Gulf Coast of Texas where the humidity levels tend to be very high at times. If the wood is that sensitive they should not be selling it in this area or at least warn people that it not suited. After months of haggling we are out about 12k on the flooring and either going to have to play to rip it out or have in sanded and refinished to get rid of the curl and splitting. I am posting this to warn others that you do not have any warranty on the products that they sell. We have contacted some attorneys about possible legal action. The attorneys told us by the naming of the business Liquidators it infers that it is seconds and you are buying as is, even though they speak of having a warranty and are probably becoming the largest seller of wood flooring in the country. Maybe if enough people post their problems on every consumer website the Attorney General's offices of some of the states will begin to look at the deceptive practices of this company.

Bella Wood
We are building a new home. We ordered 88O square feet of 3/4" X 3.25 inch natural birch Bellawood flooring with a 50 year warranty. A lot of good that warranty will do. Our professional installer installed a portion of it and it is so uneven, with gaps between the boards and different depths of the wood. What a HUGE disappointment. Our local store in Green Bay, Wisconsin was of absolutely NO help. Our professional installer said that he sees this all the time with Bellawood. We have decided to have the entire floor sanded down and refinished. Again I am so glad I have a 50 year warranty on the finish! DO NOT buy Bellawood!!! Your installed floor will NOT look anything like what you see in the showroom. This company is does not stand behind its product and their products are defective.

Incorrect product and poor quality
Two years ago we ordered 3/4 X 4 Natural Maple hardwood flooring by Bellawood at the Manchester Nh location. When we installed the first box we saw it was very poor quality. The boards had a variety of thickness, some up to 1/8 inch difference and the ends were not straight cuts. It made a messy floor with a lot of gaps. We stopped after one box and contacted the store. We brought it back and ordered a new batch. After the wait, the new batch was much better. I agree with other complaints, the customer service skills are very lacking at the stores. They made it seem like it was our fault and we were inconveniencing them.

Now 2 years later we want to do another bedroom and have it match. We ordered the exact same flooring (7 boxes)with much reluctance. We had someone installing it for us during Labor Day Weekend. When we saw the floor it was 75% done. IT was not the same. IT was not the nice white creamy maple. It was 75% darker mismatched wood. Was it a mislabeled batch? We contacted the customer care center. A nice girl Tiffany took my complaint and said it will be forwarded to them on trues. We had to finish the floor and get our house back in order. The rep contacted us on wed and said we are really sorry there can be up to 5% variance in color per box. All 7 boxes had the mixture. He basically said you accept it "AS IS" once it is installed. We do encourage the home owner to be there when it is installed and to stop if you see a problem and contact us. etc etc Why should we have to double check everything? Should i have opened every box to inspect it when I picked it up? and another problem is it was Labor Day Weekend. They did receive the pictures that clearly show it is not the same. We then needed another box to tie in a closet. It had to be ordered. They gave it to us for free. When it was picked up a week later. It was the perfect creamy white Maple that we thought we had ordered. How can that be explained. I think I deserve to be compensated. It is not what we ordered.

Worst customer service
They are by far the worst company I have ever dealt with in my 23 years in the trade. Deceitful, poor quality and the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. They refuse to return calls on material they have received numerous complaints on. I purchased over $6000 worth of materials that began losing its finish and denting as soon as it applied. According to the local sales rep "that was to be expected". After installing solid wood floors for many years, I had yet to see a professional job peel or dent...

They are stink!
This has been the worst home improvement supplier I have ever delt with. Their customer service is awful. No retrun call, no return emails. Just awful.

On July 6th I purchased 6 boxes of PRBAMHC Bamboo flooring. I installed the first 5 boxes and the floor looked great. When I opened the last box the color was nowhere near the previous flooring it was much much lighter. I looked at the boxes I had used and noted the lot number was SF-Y1 and sixth box was different. I took it back, there where no boxes in stock with SF- Y1.

Lumber Liquidators Denver has not been able to find flooring that even comes close to the product they sold me on July 6th. Jerome at Lumber Liquidators Denver said to me in a face to face conversion that he would refund me money since he could not match the product. He additionally asked me to let him know who I used to refinish the floor since he had other customer with the same problem. I have called him three times with no response. I had no option but to finish the floor and it really looks bad. (See attached photo). When I purchased this flooring I expected a good looking floor when I was finished. If I had bought this at Lumber Liquidators Sunday’s mixed lot sale I would not be upset, of course I would have paid 99 cents a foot instead of $2.85. I felt a refund of $ 1.86/sqft or $310.00 is fair.

Jim
