Will not do business with this company and recommend anyone thinking of doing so, thinks twice
I purchased a Magic Jack and when it came it installed easily. During the set up I was asked to select the Area code I wanted and I selected 720 which is the area I live in and that area code was available according to their web site. Immagine my surprise when the phone number had a 205 area code which is for Alabama. I live in Colorado. So anyone calling the number they gave me would be charged for a long distance call, even if they lived in my calling area. Customer service for Magic Jack told me I would have to pay to change my phone number to my calling area even though I selected a 720 area code during initial set up. This is an obvious scam to extract more money. I cancelled the service and returned the product immediately. Will not do business with this company and recommend anyone thinking of doing so, thinks twice.

It's pathetic how horrible the magic jack is
It's pathetic how horrible the magic jack is. Literally every time I call someone it doesn't connect, then I have to restart the magic jack and hope that it works. Literally every time I am having a phone conversation it drops the call out of nowhere. This is the worst piece of technology Ive ever seen. You would think with the rate of how fast technology is going there would be something better. I DON'T recommend this to ANYONE. You all would be better off just using Skype. That's what I'm doing.

Rip off joke
What a joke. They have this product on the market. And I'd like to take the time to list all the things that I believe is crock of crap.
#1 Crappy audio quality. Download after download, from the agents still don't make a *** difference. Even went out and bought different phone. Found out the stupid thing likes the old 24 mega hertz phones.
#2 What they call the equipment. Oh my goodness. I have never seen a computer part so poorly designed let alone the lack of sturdiness this box is. Whether you have USB ports in the front of your computer or the back. You can't shut down your computer or guess what, you have no phone. That's ok I guess if you have a cell phone. SO just in case someone needs to get ahold of you for an emergency they'll be able to call your cell phone. Unless you turn those off as well at night. When you boot your computer up, this lovely usb box doesn't like to register. So, what to do on this. You have to unplug the blooming thing from the port and plug it back in. To register it.
#3 Due to the pulling in out and plugging back in has weakened the USB and now I have unfortunately been blessed with a broken magicjack. I went online to the FQA's and typed in replacement. Under replacement it states that there is a $9.95 shipping and handling charge and it also states that they will replace the magicjack for this price with no questions asked. Ok, fine. I'm not really happy to have to pay that, but no questions asked. I go online to their Chat live agents. Talked to two people, both telling me that it's going to cost me $20 because it was broken. Stated that the website says that it will cost $9.95. "Oh, that is only if it is defective". This is not defective, you have broken it. So, it will cost you $20" Ummmm, the website doesn't say defective. It states that you will replace it with no questions asked for $9.95. After arguing the idiots over and over again. What was my result. They have my money and will not replace it until I pay the $20 and they'll send me another one that will take what that 2 1/2 weeks they say it'll only be 5-7 business days?
I do not suggest going with this *** Magicjack. I was stupid and I really don't want to see anyone else making the stupid mistake that I had made. If I had the choice, which I have already tried to do. I would report them to the BBB. Unfortunately you are unable to get ahold of any phone number, address or anything. They surely aren't part of the BBB, I can tell you that much.

It has problems with audio quality, complete failures, screw ups on voicemail, and everything in between
I've had one for over a year. Although Cheap, it has problems with audio quality, complete failures, screw ups on voicemail, and everything in between.
It is just not dependable. I've just spent the last three days without any service after many hours of online chat with idiots reading from a cue card that have no clue as to what to do if it is not printed in front of them.
Supervisor's and Tech Support don't really have any value. They do not advise customers of escalated trouble tickets status, do not follow up on hot items, and seem to care less about what the customer says or advises about a problem if it isn't on their cue card.
Don't buy this piece of @#$%, it is more headache than it's worth for the savings. Especially when spending hours trying to chat with morons in their customer service dept in Florida. At least they aren't in India.

It sould be called Magic Junk
Another greedy little company. Had trouble with the connection and called customer service...while I was on the unit broke (USB came out of MJ). They wanted $20 to send another unit in 3-5 days. Instead I tried Yahoo Voice. As soon as I placed the call the person on the other end said my voice on Yahoo was incredibly clearer than anything they ever heard me say on this #**#$! Yahoo Voice may cost more...but is definitely worth the 1.9 cents per minute than this garbage. This thing never was clear, always dropped calls or had garbled voices. BYE MJ.

They do not have a phone line to contact customer service
Was pleased with MagicJack in the beginning. But when I had any problems arise found the ONLY way to communicate was through 'LIVE CHAT'. What a joke. Sit at computer for 2+ hours twice!! When I asked for a phone number to talk to someone, guess what? They don't have one!!! They are in the business to allow people to "call" others and "talk" really talk to each other, yet they don't do the same??? How HYPOCRITICAL!!! Can't they afford to have a phone line of their own? Also, when they said they forwarded the issue to the next level support who would get back to me, they never did - and I mean never, as that was more than 2 months ago. Recently, in dispute with an auto charge for service and they say it has been forwarded to billing, who will get back to me by email confirmation, so I will keep checking on that before disputing the charge with my Credit Card Company. GOOD LUCK to any one else. As I said at the beginning, I was pleased at first but then when dealing with any issues found their means of Customer Service SEVERELY LACKING.

Buyer beware, as they wont do what they say anyway
I purchased the Magic Jack last summer. It worked great for a few months. Then I bought the 5 year subscription and disconnected my land line phone. Wrong decision! The magic jack audio quality on my voice to others is terrible. IT crackles and breaks up so much they cannot understand what I say. I can hear and understand them fine. I've spent hours with my local internet provider, even upgraded my speeds. I spent over 5 hours with Magic Jack support personnel. Downdloaded, changed, switched, tweaked and waited seemingly forever. Finally I asked for a refund on the 5 year payment (as I hadn't even used the original 12 months completely). Sure! Right! It's been almost a month. and nothing! I'm not about to spend another 4 or 5 hours trying to get to someone who will agree to anything. As they won't do what they say anyway. Buyer BEWARE!!

Folks at Magic Jack would not tell me when Washington state area codes would become available
I was as persistent as I could be while still being polite, but the folks at Magic Jack would not tell me when Washington state area codes would become available. They would not escalate the issue to a supervisor, either. It seems that they don't care about the 6, 664, 195 people living here. If indeed someone from Magic Jack is monitoring this, please do something about your service. I cannot purchase it, or recommend it to anyone if my local area code is available.
